29-year-old Hathaway has been dating her now-fiancee – an actor and jewelry designer – since 2008. It’s always amazing when two actors manage to sustain a relationship for any length of time, and are able to keep themselves out of the tabloids, which these two seem to have done. This bodes well for their future since very few relationships are able to long endure the scrutiny of the spotlight.

Of course, Hathaway’s had her share of the spotlight. The  ”Princess Diaries” and “The Devil Wears Prada” star went through a public break-up with ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri when he was arrested and pleaded guilty on fraud charges.

Prosecutors in the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan had been overseeing a D.E.A. probe into whether the painkillers found in Ledger’s system were obtained illegally. But the prosecutors have bowed out “because they don’t believe there’s a viable target,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because no charges have been filed.

Looks like potential “viable target” Mary-Kate Olsen is off the hook…for now. Wonder how much THAT cost! The DEA had obtained a subpoena that could have forced Olsen if she continued to hold out. The official added that the case could still be revived if evidence of a crime emerges. MK has been stonewalling investigators, and it looks like for now, it’s paid off.

Rebekah Carmichael, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office, said it’s the office’s policy to “neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation.” There was no immediate response to a message left for Olsen’s attorney, Michael C. Miller.

DEA investigators suspect the painkillers found in Ledger’s system, oxycodone (Oxycontin)and hydrocodone, were obtained with phony prescriptions or other illegal means.

Snarkista thinks its possible that Mary-Kate could have been involved. Oxy suppresses appetite in many users, and MK has been in rehab for anorexia and is rumored to have had treatment for substance abuse. Her bodyguards had plenty of time to get evidence out of Heath’s apartment, although it would probably have been hard to trace back to her. Unless someone else knew she provided the drugs.

If so, no one is talking, and the lil’ bag lady can sleep a little easier tonight. The Feds can and will reopen the investigation if any pertinent evidence comes to light. Dodged a bullet, Trollsen.

Frustrated federal officials may obtain a grand-jury subpoena to compel the actress to tell them whatever she knows about Heath’s behavior, his possible drug use and the events of that tragic morning. Investigators have interviewed everyone connected to Ledger and his death, including his doctors, the masseuse, bodyguards, housekeepers, business associates and even the mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Matilda, actresss Michelle Williams.
A source says:

Everyone has been very eager to help, saying what a great guy Heath Ledger was, everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak.

That source explained that Olsen would be the last witness they need to interview to finish the investigation into where he got his drugs and medicines.

Ledger died of a potent cocktail of prescription drugs and OxyContin, the latter of which was probably obtained illegally. Instead of calling 911 after getting the call from her masseuse, Olsen telephoned her bodyguards in NY, telling them to race to Heath’s apartment. They arrived just as paramedics got to the scene.

NY State authorities closed their investigation without Mary-Kate’s cooperation, but the US Drug Enforcement Administration, opened an investigation to determine the sources of Ledger’s drugs, and aren’t giving up attempts to talk Olsen. The feds contacted her lawyer, Michael Miller, several times recently asking for her cooperation, but Miller told the feds Olsen won’t be interviewed unless she gets immunity from possible prosecution. Fishy.

Investigators are trying to ID the source of the OxyContin. Did it come from a dealer, or from a friend? If he had a bottle from a friend, was it taken by someone before police responded? That’s what the DEA is trying to determine. When asked whether he asked for immunity for his client, Olsen’s lawyer said, “We are not going to comment on whether there is a criminal investigation,” and declined to speak further.

Oxycontin is only prescribed for patients in extreme pain- it is one of the most powerful opiate drugs used today. Interestingly, Mary-Kate’s been in rehab before…for anorexia. Oxy has the side affect of suppressing the appetite in many users. Could Mary-Kate have been addicted to it? Did she give some to her lover Heath? Looks like the Feds are determined to find out.

Christian was alleged to have “pushed and shoved” his mom Jenny, 61, and Sharon, 41. But sources close to Bale, say Jenny inflamed the situation by hurling insults about his wife Sandra Sibi Blazic. As you know, unless you’ve been on a desert island for the past week, the fight happened on Sunday night, hours before Monday’s European premiere of Bale’s new Batman film. Interesting timing on the part of mom and sis! The Sun quotes a source close to the case who said:

Christian is a very wealthy young man and was asked to help his sister out financially.
He was asked to loan her £100,000 (approximately $200,000 US) but he refused and that caused an almighty row. During that row, the women claim, he assaulted them by pushing and shoving them. Both Jenny and Sharon are terribly upset over what happened. They did not want any publicity and the last thing they wanted to do was wreck his premiere evening. But they say he bullied them. They are both devastated that it has come to this but want him to be taught a lesson.

Sounds like someone needs to give the whole clan some counseling. Particularly Sharon the clown, who might want to consider a more lucrative line of work.

A source close to the 34-year-old actor says Bale is confident he’s done nothing wrong, and blames his mother. He is also said to have become depressed over the death of close friend and co-star Heath Ledger. The source told the Daily Mail that:

Christian was stressed, but he didn’t lay a finger on anyone. Instead, he flew off the handle and cussed his mother. He just got very loud because his mother was saying some very outrageous things about him, and his wife. Christian’s attitude is that this was his mother’s fault because she became very provocative in an argument they were having.Things got out of control and he now says he wishes he just left the room. Normally Christian would just call a friend and go out to a pub to cool off. But he was literally trapped into this confrontation with his mother and sister because there was an army of fans and paparazzi outside. He has stresses in his marriage. He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him. His marriage is not perfect, but his relationship with his mother is in much more trouble.

Bale has apparently been deeply affected by the death of good friend Ledger, and without Ledger around, he’s found it more and more difficult to communicate with those around him, especially his family. It was reported he found it hard to shake off the mental strains of the role, and told an interviewer he was having trouble sleeping. They had become very close during the making of The Dark Knight and Christian went into virtual hiding for the six weeks after Heath was found dead.

The source says that Bale wasn’t returning phone calls and he wasn’t a happy man. “It’s foolish to think that he’s been able to completely shake off that grief just as Heath and his work is finally being seen by audiences. He expected to share this moment with his friend, and now he can’t.”

Snarkista thinks that Jenny Bale was mad enough at Christian to try and spoil his big moment at the European premier of The Dark Night. With all of the pre-release publicity that centered on Heath, the reminders of his death were everywhere. No one should be “assaulted”, but the charge against Christian is an extremely minor one. It seems like it could have been handled within the family without involving the police.

The 19-year-old was given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and chest compressions by a friendl to keep oxygen pumping to her brain. Emergency crews raced to the scene on Sunday afternoon to find the party-loving part-time TV presenter – daughter of Sir Bob Geldof – unconscious. The incident brought back the tragic memory that Peaches’ mother, Paula Yates, died after an overdose in 2000.

Peaches was successfully revived at the flat in trendy Camden, North London. She began crying hysterically but then refused to go to hospital for fear her rock legend dad, organizer of the Live Aid charity concerts, would find out. Too late, Peaches- I imagine your dad has done what he said he would do if you turned to drugs: go ballistic.

A source said:

Peaches could not breathe for several minutes after suffering a respiratory arrest. Her friend had to give chest pumps and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If she had not received this she could have died or she could have suffered brain damage. Peaches had gone into respiratory arrest, in which a patient’s breathing stops but the heart doesn’t. It was extremely serious and there is no doubt her friend saved her life.

Another friend told The Sun: “No one could believe this has happened to Sir Bob Geldof’s daughter, particularly considering what happened to her mother.”

Amazingly, Peaches shouted at the paramedics who helped her! Her pal added: “When she came to, she started mouthing off and told the ambulance crew, ‘You have to respect my privacy’. She then told them to get out.And she refused to go hospital to have further treatment because she was worried about it getting out.”

Well, that’s one less thing for Peaches to worry about now. She’s been on the international party scene for quite awhile, and she’s only 19 years old. Sir Bob needs to take a look at Amy Winehouse and see what’s down the road for his little girl without an intervention.

Equally amazing was that Peaches was well enough to walk the red carpet last night at the European premiere of The Dark Knight, the latest Batman film. Just like it never happened at all.

Last night, London Police allowed Batman star Christian Bale to attend the biggest film premiere of the summer last night despite him being accused of assault.

Bale, 34, faces questioning over the claim made by his own mother and sister. Christian was able to attend the first European screening of new Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight” in London’s West End. He is accused of lashing out on Sunday night at Park Lane’s Dorchester Hotel — where he has a suite. His mom Jenny, 61, and sister Sharon, 40, who lives in Dorset, went to a police station in Hampshire yesterday to lodge the allegation. The matter was referred to the Met Police.

Detectives, well aware of last night’s glittering bash, made the decision not to approach Bale yesterday. But they are expected to try to question him today. A source said:

It was a very difficult situation but it would have been wrong to have wrecked the premiere over a complaint which we don’t yet know is founded in truth. But Mr Bale will be contacted at the earliest opportunity and be asked to provide an account of anything that happened.

A Met Police spokesman said: “We can confirm we have received allegation from another force in relation to an alleged incident in central London.”

WTF did Christian DO? Is he still in character? Were his mom and sister pissed ‘cuz he didn’t take them to the London premier? Was he just hammered? Snarkista MUST know. And therefore will be digging diligently around!
