As we all suspected, the official word has finally come out: Â the whole “I’ve given up acting and I’m now a hip-hop star” weirdness from Joaquin Phoenix was all part of something he calls “performance art” and the rest of us call “being a jackass for no reason.” Â Casey Affleck, younger brother of Ben Affleck, directed the film I’m Still Here, documenting Phoenix’s alleged transformation into a king of the hip-hop lifestyle. Â The film got a lot of negative criticism, and even more people worried that Joaquin Phoenix was in need of an intervention. Â Affleck now says that he assumed people would have known the movie was a fake, but claims that it was not a hoax, it was just actors doing their job – acting. Â Joaquin Phoenix is due to be on Letterman tomorrow night, and after having shown up as his hip-hop character for a previous Letterman interview, Phoenix has quite a lot of explaining to do tomorrow.
After many years of poor decision-making, both professional and personal (*cough*J-Lo*cough), Ben Affleck finally seems to have done something worthy of his talent and skill, if this weekend’s box-office charts are anything to go by.
His new movie, The Town, debuted in the top spot ahead of high school comedy Easy A and M. Night Shyamalan‘s latest attempt at repairing his own damaged reputation, Devil. Â I have to admit, when Affleck was talking about his movie the other night on Leno, it sounded pretty good to me, and I’m eager to see it. Â It’s been a long, hard road back from Gigli for him, and I hope now that he’s got something good going on in his professional life he manages to hang onto it.
It seems like Jennifer Garner has been pregnant FOREVER, but yesterday she finally popped! Jennifer and husband Ben Affleck have welcomed their second daughter, a sister to their adorable little Violet, age 3.
The actress’s rep says: “Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck gave birth to a healthy baby girl.” The baby was born Tuesday in Los Angeles. Just days before giving birth, Garner was spotted with Violet at the Farmer’s Market in Pacific Palisades and grabbing a decaf coffee at Caffe Luxxe in Santa Monica with a girlfriend.
Jennifer’s former Alias costar and close friend Victor Garber says the actress needs no help in the mommy department. He told People Magazine that “It’s her second child. She knows what to do. She’s probably the best mother I’ve ever witnessed.”
Jennifer has kept a lower profile in Hollywood since becoming a mother, and has focused her time on her family. She and Ben were quite sensible in naming their first child, managing to avoid Hollywood’s horrid trend of crazy baby names…who’s latest contributor was Rebecca Romijn’s names for her twins a few days ago: Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip. Congratulations to Jennifer, Ben and Violet…PLEASE give that little girl a normal name!
This is no real shocker to anyone who’s been keeping an eye on Jennifer Garner’s ever-expanding waistline, but not until now has Jennifer affirmed the fact that she’s pregnant with baby number 2!
At an event celebrating the 10th anniversary of Baby Einstein products in L.A. Wednesday, a USA Today reporter asked the actress, 36, about her upcoming projects.
Garner then pointed to her baby bump and said with a smile, “This.†She wouldn’t reveal her due date. Rumors have her at about 5 months along. “We’re so excited, obviously,” she told Access Hollywood. She also joked about her swollen belly. “Oh, I’m not pregnant. I just had a lot of carbs for breakfast. It’s just…what do they call it- a breakfast pouch?”
Jennifer and husband Ben Affleck, mom and dad to adorable 2 year old daughter Violet, just bought a $16 million house in L.A.’s tony Brentwood neighborhood as they get ready for the new baby. Official congratulations to the happy family!
