Rapper Kid Cudi broke down in tears after watching a two-part video from a young fan who died on Christmas Day. 18-year-old Austin teen Ben Breedlove died of a heart attack from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a disease that causes thickening of the heart muscle. Before his death, Breedlove posted his life story on Youtube, mentioning his favorite rapper, Kid Cudi, in the videos.
In the two-part Ben Breedlove video farewell, the young Austin, TX teen tells of his struggle to live a full life while suffering from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which makes it difficult for the heart to pump blood as the organ’s muscle walls thicken over time. The videos are all the more poignant as the story unfolds silently through a series of handwritten notecards with Gary Jules “Mad World” instrumental playing in the background.
