The Black Eyed Peas are Just Taking a Break … not Breaking Up

If you’ve heard that line from a boyfriend or girlfriend in the past, you know how likely it is that the Black Eyed Peas will actually reunite. Still, they’re denying rumors that they’re officially breaking up and say instead that they’re just “taking a break” from making music together for a while.

“We’re going to take a little vacation and focus on our personal things,” said Apl.de.ap who will be focusing on his duties as ambassador for education in the Philippines. Yep, that’s right. The same guy that sings says things like “boom boom pow” and “lovely lady lumps” is an ambassador for education.

According to fellow band member, Will.i.am, this is the cycle under which the band operates normally: two cycles of records, and then a break to work on side projects and personal stuff.

The band will play their final concert before the break in Miami today, which will feature Marc Antony, Cee Lo Green, Flo Rida, Sean Kingston and Jason Derulo.

At least they’re going out in style. Which is more than I can say for me and my highschool boyfriend …

Black Eyed Peas to open music school

It sounds like this could be a horrible joke, but sadly it seems to be true – the Black Eyed Peas are opening a music school in New York City, with the aim of teaching the young people of Manhattan how to make some killer tracks.  But don’t worry, Fergie’s not going to be teaching anyone how to sing – the school’s courses are going to focus on the production side of the music business.

Students will learn how to engineer and master multitrack studio sessions, and will also learn the basics of music video production.  The school has partnered with Adobe, who will be providing the necessary software and equipment.  Classes will be starting in July, so even high school students can take summer courses and learn how to make music the professional way.

It’s Gonna Be A Starry August In Denver

Denver, Colorado is going to look more like Hollywood during the Democratic National Convention this August 25-28th.

A-listers, movie moguls and other Hollywood movers-and-shakers are expected to turn out in droves to witness political star Barack Obama’s party coronation.

Convention sources tell NY Daily News that superstars Kanye West, N.E.R.D., Wyclef Jean and Usher are in serious talks to perform at the DNC blowout. There are always exclusive invitation-only events that are held while the Convention is in session, and this year looks like it will be no exception!

The Creative Coalition, a non-profit advocacy group that hosted parties for the Democrats in 2004, announced that the Black Eyed Peas are scheduled to perform at the DNC Gala at the Fillmore Auditorium on Aug. 27. Coalition Director Robin Bronk says:

The Black Eyed Peas represent a growing genre of music that emphasizes increased social awareness

Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is coming for the Yoga Health Foundation’s festival, which begins the night before the convention. He plans to stay for the duration, saying…

I’m going to the DNC to add my voice to the growing collective consciousness I believe is rising in this country. I want to add my voice to this phenomenon that I believe is this country and the world’s only salvation: the promotion of love over fear.

Other A-list Democratic supporters who plan to join in on some of the festivities include Ben Affleck, Scarlett Johansson, Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee, Warren Beatty and wife Annette Bening, Susan Sarandon, Kerry Washington, Dana Delany, Forrest Whitaker, Ed Norton and many more. Norton is working on a documentary about Obama.

So, about a month from now Denver is gonna be a GREAT place to star-search, no matter WHAT your Party affiliation is! Here’s hoping the papz will behave, and not turn the “Mile High City” into “Miles Long Gridlock”!
