Bret Michaels’ heart surgery a success

Singer and reality star Bret Michaels had surgery on Monday to close up a hole in his heart, and according to the hospital, it went well and he is recovering as expected.  Michaels has had a streak of bad luck with his  health, with both an emergency appendectomy and a brain hemorrhage last year.

It was the search for the cause of the brain hemorrhage that caused doctors to discover the hole in Bret’s heart, and over the weekend they inserted a closure device to block abnormal blood flow.  The device will remain there for the rest of Bret’s life and is not expected to have any adverse effects.  In fact, within a couple of weeks he should be feeling much better and getting back to his usual energetic self.
