The first official results from the Brittany Murphy autopsy by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office have been released, although toxicology reports remain outstanding. The autopsy on Britanny Murphy revealed little about her sudden cause of death. However, the coroner’s office has reported a large amount of prescription drugs were found in Murphy’s home.

In eerie reminder of the death of young Hollywood star Heath Ledger, authorities report a wide array of prescription drugs were found at the home of Brittany Murphy and her husband Simon Monjack. Some of the prescriptions included anti-anxiety medications, strong painkillers and anti-depression pills.
Among the drugs found on scene in Murphy’s home, according to TMZ.com, were Topamax (anti-seizure meds, also prevents migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (Diabetes and bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and Propranolol (hypertension and heart attack prevention). Murphy reportedly died after going into full cardiac arrest but the underlying cause is still unknown.
The L.A. Coroner’s Office reports that no “alcohol containers, paraphernalia or illegal drugs were discovered” at Murphy’s home. The autopsy report also states there was “no evidence of trauma” and Murphy’s body appeared to be of “normal” weight and not overly thin.
According to information gathered by investigators into Brittany Murphy’s death, the 32-year-old actress had been “complaining of shortness of breath and severed abdominal pain” for 7 to 10 days prior to her death. She had also reportedly been vomiting severely the morning of her collapse. Murphy’s husband, Simon Monjack, said his wife had visited a doctor for laryngitis recently and “had been tired.” Murphy had also reportedly been treated in the past for low blood sugar and her mother, Sharon Murphy, reportedly told paramedics her daughter was diabetic.
Could Brittany Murphy’s death be yet another Heath Ledger style case of prescription over-medication leading to a tragic overdose? Or just the sad natural death of a woman far too young? Toxicology reports on the young star’s body may hold the answer, but will take several more weeks to process.
