Carrie Underwood is the first female artist to ever win entertainer of the year at the Country Music Awards twice. “I think I just got make-up all over Brad Paisley,” Underwood joked as she accepted her award. “Thank you God. Praise the lord.” Underwood lost out for best female vocalist to singer Miranda Lambert.

Lady Antebellum was the other darling of the night at the Country Music Awards, winning for best vocal group, best single and song of the year. Their win for best vocal group puts an end to a seven-year run for Rascal Flatts as previous winners in that category.

American Idol

American Idol was previously aired at 8PM on Fox, but will be moved to a 9PM slot for the new season debuting on January 12 and 13. The two night season premiere will air at 8/7c.

Fox has reportedly decided to fill the 8PM time slot with a new drama series called Human Target, described as being “based on a graphic novel about a bodyguard.” Can we say yawn?

Meanwhile, former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood is basking in the glow of her early Christmas present – an engagement ring from hockey player boyfriend Mike Fisher. Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher are now officially engaged and “couldn’t be happier” according to Underwood’s rep. No wedding date has reportedly been set yet.

Papa Joe thought Jessica could revive her “career” by making the switch to country music, but this idea has turned out to be a flopper. Jessica’s country album is a yawner, and the songs she wrote are crappy. This is a singer-songwriter town, but you have to be a GOOD singer-songwriter to get any respect. Great for fans of country music, not great for Jessica. No amount of milkmaid dresses and cowboy boots can change that.

Carrie Underwood hosted the CMAs with Brad Paisley, and everyone knows that Carrie is not a Jessica Simspon fan. It’s quite within the realm of believability that Underpants banned Jess from the awards. It’s definitely something the diva would do, and would be another dig at Jess in their ongoing feud over Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo.

So…Jessica’s gonna have to go off, nurse her wounds, and if she wants to make it in country music: cut a decent album. It’s pretty bad when your hometown newspaper, The Dallas Morning News, gives you a scathing review. Oh, and one more thing- CUT OUT THE ONSTAGE BLABBERING ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE, JESSICA! Nobody wants to hear that shizz.

Oooh, there’s another reason to give a good-natured GRRR to Carrie Underwood today! Seems the country sweetheart is dating Dr. Travis Stork, one of Nashville’s MOST eligible bachelors…and a former “Bachelor” himself in 2006. Travis is finishing his residency at Vanderbilt University, and has been an ER doctor for awhile. His latest television venture calls the ER Doc and his colleagues ‘America’s medical dream team’. His fellow docs include Dr. Jim Sears, Dr. Lisa Masterson and Dr. Drew Ordon. Their show began in September. MANY a single Nashville girl has had an “emergency” requiring a Vandy ER visit in hopes of being treated by the sweet, handsome Dr. Stork.

There were sightings of the two several weeks ago, but it seems they’ve come out in the open with their relationship. They’ve been spotted out and about several times, and were in New York recently. The Associated Press reports that Stork presented her with a diamond ring on a necklace Monday night, and that Carrie’s given Travis unlimited backstage passes to her shows.

Okay, Underpants, lets try not to mess THIS one up. Travis is a great guy, and isn’t into DIVA. So try to keep your Underpanties out of a wad if things aren’t always PERFECT. Life’s funny that way. Roll with it, and be thankful a guy with so much going for him is smitten with you. Treat him right, or you’ll piss off a whole lot of your demographic in Nashville. ‘Cuz we LOVE our Dr. Feelgood!

Brad and Carrie will perform on the show, as will Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban. Don’t look for newly countryfied Jessica Simpson to perform! If arch-enemy Carrie can’t maintain her “gracefulness” and takes a swipe at her from the stage it would be MUST SEE TV!

There are a lot of Canadians that are huge country music fans. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to be Jessica Simpson-as-country-singer fans. Jessica got panned AGAIN for a Canadian performance. Last time was in Ontario, this time it was in Windsor. The Windsor Star music reviewer had this to say about Jessica’s act:

“The 28-year-old Texan knows she has to work twice as hard to earn her stripes as a performer. But with zero stage presence, a voice that only occasionally found the right note, and batch of ordinary new songs, it was all in vain.” Her stage presence was further criticized in the review, saying she “paced back and forth across the stage like a table dancer,” and when the former reality TV star explained the meaning behind one of her songs, she told women in the audience to “run the other way if they’re in an abusive relationship, ‘preferably in a pair of Jessica Simpson boots.’ ”

Way to throw the product placement into the act, Jess! Snarkista thinks Jessica may know that her line of shoes is gonna make her WAY more money than her “country career”. Maybe she should follow boyfriend Tony Romo’s lead and study some “game tapes”, but watch Carrie Underwood performances instead of the Washington Redskins! Study the competition! Carrie’s apparently your competition on AND off stage, so take some notes, girl! Seriously, Jess, country fans aren’t taking you seriously. Sounds like you need to take the act OFF the road until you LITERALLY get your act together.

Too bad the boyz couldn’t leak some GASOLINE into the gas stations here in Nashville! Friends today drove around for hours trying to FIND gas. One finally did, for 6 bucks a gallon. While nowhere near Ike-like, we’re having gas lines. Stations have been closing their pumps for over a week, and now it’s getting kinda scary! Governor Phil Bredesen promises that gas is on the way…barges coming up the Cumberland River. Snarkista hopes ye in other parts of the country aren’t in for what we’re going through. Thank God for telecommuting!
