Experts Testify About Caylee Anthony Remains in Casey Anthony Trial

Discovery Channel reality show star Dr. Jan Garavaglia testified at the Casey Anthony trial on Friday about Caylee Anthony‘s remains. Garavaglia, who stars in the Discovery show Dr. G: Medical Examiner, took the stand to detail how the bones found near Casey Anthony’s home were identified as Caylee Anthony’s remains and discuss the possible manner of her death.

“The cause of death was homicide of undetermined means, I believe we can reliably say it’s a homicide, but I don’t know the means for which that homicide occurred,” Garavaglia said.

Dr. Jan Garavaglia is the authority responsible for determining the cause of death in questionable cases in central Florida, including the city of Orlando. Garavaglia will return to the stand this afternoon to further discuss her conclusions about Caylee Anthony’s remains.

Casey Anthony began crying and shaking as anthropology professor John J. Schultz testified about the bones later identified as belonging to her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony. Schultz said the bones had been chewed on by animals. He said Caylee’s vertebrae were all found together, which he believes indicates the body was intact when it was placed in the woods near the Anthony’s home.

“We collected all but one tooth. We have most of the spine, many of the ribs, all of the long bones, the tiny bones, hand, feet, left foot and we did recover one bone of the right foot. The only reason we have one bone of the right foot is because we had carnivore activity on that part of the skeleton,” Schultz said.

Casey Anthony wept during the testimony with her attorney’s arm around her shoulders. Anthony turned away as photos were shown to the jury of the torn and dirty clothing Caylee Anthony was wearing when she died. Shultz estimated the body had been in the woods for as long as six months.

Duct tape covered the mouth of Caylee Anthony’s skull, Shultz testified, but he could not be sure it also covered her nose. Shultz said there was no evidence of trauma to the bones. Prosecutors have accused Casey Anthony of first-degree murder and argue that she used duct tape to suffocate her daughter so she could be “free” of responsibility for the child.

Outside the courthouse, one woman was taken away by ambulance after she was knocked to the ground by a crowd of people pushing to be one of the 50 spectators allowed to watch the Casey Anthony trial from inside the courtroom.

Graphic Photos of Caylee Anthony Remains Shown at Casey Anthony Trial

Graphic photos of Caylee Anthony‘s remains were shown Thursday morning at Casey Anthony‘s trial for the murder of her 2-year-old daughter. Casey Anthony appeared to cry as photos of Caylee Anthony’s skull were displayed in the courtroom.

Judge Belvin Perry warned those at the trial about the graphic images of Caylee Anthony’s remains and urged anyone who might feel sick to leave the courtroom. Casey Anthony’s parents, George and Cindy, left before the photos were put up for display.

Orange County Sheriff’s crime scene investigator Jennifer Welch took the witness stand to testify about being called to the location where Caylee Anthony’s remains were found and detailed how she photographed the crime scene. Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Edward Turso testified about meeting with meter reader Roy Kronk, who originally reported finding Caylee’s remains, and taking his statement.

Defense attorney Jose Baez accused Roy Kronk in his opening statement of placing Caylee’s remains where they were found months before calling authorities to claim reward money. Kronk reportedly called the police to report finding a skull in the area several times in August, 2008 but nothing was found there at the time.

Orange County medical examiner Dr. Jan Garavaglia said Caylee’s remains did not give any evidence on how the little girl died, only that they did not suffer any trauma.

Casey Anthony has pleaded not guilty to murdering Caylee Anthony. Although she originally claimed Caylee had gone missing after being left with a nanny, Anthony now claims Caylee drowned by accident in the family’s swimming pool.

Former Roommates Say Casey Anthony Partied While Daughter Was Missing

Three former roommates of Casey Anthony‘s ex-boyfriend all claim Casey moved in with him mid-June pretty much full-time and there was no sign of her missing daughter Caylee Anthony afterwards. The defense team for Casey Anthony is now claiming that 2-year-old Caylee Anthony drowned in the Anthony family pool on June 16, 2008 and was never ‘missing’ at all — despite her mother’s previous claims.

A girlfriend of one of the former roommates testified that Casey Anthony was partying and participated in a ‘hot body contest’ at a club during the time Caylee had vanished. One of the ex-roommates of Anthony’s boyfriend, Nathan Lezniewicz, said he never saw any indication Casey Anthony was upset or sad during the time Caylee was missing.

Former roommate Roy House testified that after Anthony started staying regularly with then boyfriend Anthony Lazzaro, he stopped seeing Caylee around. When asked where Caylee was, House said Anthony would say the little girl was “with the nanny” but would not give the name of the babysitter.

Casey Anthony originally claimed her 2-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony was kidnapped by her babysitter. Anthony’s defense attorney, Jose Baez, has now told the court that Caylee drowned accidentally in her grandparents swimming pool. He also claims Casey’s father, George Anthony, helped in covering up the toddler’s death and molested Casey as a child — both allegations he vehemently denies.

Lee Anthony’s Deposition Today Was Kinda Freaky

Murder suspect Casey Anthony’s brother Lee Anthony gave a video deposition today in the Zenaida Gonzales defamation case against Casey. Zenaida is trying to get her good name back…after Casey said her (imaginary) nanny was named Zenaida Gonzales, Zenaida got death threats, lost work, and basically had her world turned upside down.

Lee’s deposition was at times very strange, both with his responses and his body language. He laughed several times, acting more like he was hanging out with his buds instead of being in a very serious questioning session.

Under oath, Lee Anthony said that, to this day, he believes everything his sister tells him. Two weeks before the family reported Caylee missing, Lee Anthony said he started looking for Caylee himself. He said he caught his sister lying about being in Jacksonville.

Part 1: Link to the rest of the deposition at the end of this post.

In the deposition, Lee Anthony also admitted he’d never heard Gonzalez’s name before his sister’s arrest in July. Still, based on how his sister described the baby sitter, he was able to say that to his knowledge the woman that his sister described as the person who took Caylee was not the Zenaida Gonzalez who had filed the defamation lawsuit.

Attorneys asked Lee Anthony if he thought his sister was leading him on a false chase.

“After all the stories and inconsistencies, did you ever start to doubt Casey or think that she was leading you on a ‘wild goose hunt’ yourself?”

“No,” Lee Anthony said. “Um, you know, I don’t believe that I’ve been on a wild goose hunt. I believe that there’s probably more information that I could be given, whether it’s been withheld from me on purpose or she just doesn’t know to share it or what’s relevant to share or that someone else hasn’t shared something with me. But I do believe that there’s truth to a lot of what I’ve been told.”

When asked about the VERY strange “C.M.A.” speech at Caylee’s funeral, Lee said there are three women in his family with those initials: his mom, his sister and Caylee. Anyone who has seen this footage can’t help but feel creepy. It’s clearly directed at Casey, and it makes those “incest” rumors seem actually plausible.

Report: State Says Casey Anthony Intentionally Killed Caylee

New reports this evening in the Caylee Anthony homicide case…the state of Florida believes that Caylee’s death was not an accident, that the duct tape was intentionally placed over the child’s mouth, and that Caylee was killed in June. The tests have now been run on Caylee’s hair found at the scene, and it matches the hair found in the trunk of Casey’s car. This directly places Caylee’s body in the trunk of the car. Evidence points to Casey killing little 2 year-old Caylee intentionally, and alone.

Sources also say investigators have established a time frame of death that dates back to June, according to reports returned by forensic botanists and entomologists. They were brought in to analyze the terrain and insect growth where Caylee’s remains were found. Biological growth was found growing up through the skeleton, and bug evidence was also analyzed. These insect and botanical studies can pinpoint how long the body was there at the crime scene with amazing accuracy. The Oak Ridge National Laboratory (The Body Farm) said that there was 2.6 days of human decomposition evident in Casey’s trunk.

A hair which showed signs of decomposition was also found in the trunk. Sources said the hair matches hair taken from Caylee’s remains. Investigators believe the time frame coupled with other evidence- the duct tape found over the mouth of Caylee’s skull, high levels of chloroform detected in the trunk and cell phone pings from Anthony’s phone that place her near the crime scene in mid-June…points only to Casey as the killer. Officials now firmly believe that Casey acted intentionally, and alone.

Casey and her mother Cindy had a huge fight the night of June 15th, when Cindy confronted Casey about money she had stolen from the family. Cindy reportedly was so angry she put her hands around Casey’s throat. Casey took Caylee and left the house, and that was the last time anyone saw Caylee alive. Casey always had an animosity with her mother. Additionally, Casey’s boyfriend at the time told police that he’d told Casey he didn’t want to have female children; that he wanted sons.

Motive doesn’t have to be proven to convict someone of murder. Premeditated or not, Casey committed aggravated child-abuse towards Casey. Sources said although a cause of Caylee’s death may never be known, Casey will be convicted based on extremely strong evidence. This means there must have been significant evidence of Casey being at the crime scene where Caylee was found…fingerprints, DNA, possibly other definitive, forensic evidence.

Casey Anthony’s Brother Lee Anthony Lawyers Up

There has been a lot of speculation about indicted Casey Anthony’s brother Lee Anthony, ranging from the plausible (obstruction of justice) to the bizarre (incest). Lee’s been pretty quiet for a while, and has been laying low for the past several months. It seems, however, that the heat is on for brother Lee, and he’s hired himself a lawyer too. Now, parents George and Cindy, Lee as well as Casey Anthony are all legally covering their collective asses. None of the Anthonys have been cooperative and truthful with investigators from start to finish in the Caylee/Casey Anthony investigation.

Lee has hired attorney Thomas Luka, who says that while the Florida State Attorney’s Office has not filed any charges against his client, it could still happen.

“It’s possible criminal charges could be filed if the state feels that Lee Anthony mislead law enforcement officials or tampered with evidence in any way.”

While Luka maintains Lee has fully cooperated with authorities, hiring an attorney was the right move because Lee and his parents are also considered witnesses in the case against Casey.

Luka said, so far, the state has not subpoenaed his client to testify. However, if that happens, Luka said he’ll make sure Lee gets full immunity from any possible charges he might face. There has been speculation that Lee is the father of murdered little Caylee Anthony. Authorities say they know who Caylee’s father is, but have not released the information to the public. It could possibly come out during Casey Anthony’s murder trial.

Caylee’s body was found very near the Anthony home, but before it was positively identified, Cindy and George asked for a full immunity deal. Why would the Anthony’s want an immunity deal now? Attorney Brad Conway confirmed that grandparents of Caylee Anthony knowingly provided “conflicting statements” to police in the past. Will both Cindy and George Anthony be charged with obstruction of justice charges as well? The plot thickens.

Did Casey Anthony Make Her Own Chloroform?

Orlando News Channel 9 is reporting that SOMEONE was looking up recipes to cook up the chemical chloroform on sociopath Casey Anthony’s home computer, around time her 3 year old daughter Caylee disappeared. If you’ve been following the case, you know that high levels of the deadly substance chloroform were found in the trunk of party-girl Casey’s car. Sheriff’s investigators have found that someone on Casey Anthony’s computer was researching not WHERE to buy chloroform, but recipes on how to make it yourself…which is apparently pretty easy. Bleach, or pool shock, acetone and ice are all you need. Do NOT go up in the kitchen and make this stuff. It is highly unstable and very deadly.

Chloroform isn’t supposed to be sold to the general public, but it IS sold on the ‘net, and it’s not that hard to buy. Buying it on the net, however, WOULD leave a paper-trail. When you Google “how do you make chloroform,” more than a million websites are listed with instructions. On one of the first ones, there is an explicit warning about chloroform, calling the chemical extremely dangerous and unpredictable. The warning says to NEVER allow children anywhere near it. Hmmm.

Channel 9’s news analyst Bill Sheaffer says it’s

“Another piece of evidence in the circumstantial chain. It’s significant because, if Casey made the chloroform as opposed to buying it, she could have been trying to cover her tracks. Buying it would have generated some sort of record. This way certainly, she could argue, ‘Alright, I was interested in looking into how to make chloroform, but I never did.’ Or, ‘That’s why you smelled chloroform in the trunk area, because I was experimenting in making it,'”

Right. Somehow Casey doesn’t seem like a big chemistry buff…she didn’t even graduate from high school. The question for Casey’s potential jurors will be…why would Casey buy, OR make chloroform? Last week, the Orange County grand jury heard from several witnesses, including the FBI and one of the sheriff’s computer investigators. Reportedly that information is going to be released to the public very soon. One theory being tossed about is that psycho Casey drove around for 11 DAYS with Caylee’s body in her trunk. That would certainly explain the many reports of the car’s horrible stench.

Things are moving rapidly since Casey was arrested for the third time, and this time was charged with Caylee’s murder. Casey Anthony’s defense attorney is going to start questioning his first prosecution witnesses in the case next Thursday. Some who will be taking the stand are an employee at the Amscot on Goldenrod and Highway 50 where Casey abandoned her car in late June, employees from Johnson’s Wrecker Service, the company that towed the car from the Amscot, and Casey’s ex-boyfriend Tony Lazzaro. What do they all have in common? They all had access to Casey’s car. (What else do they all have in common? No real motive for killing Caylee.)

Sociopath, selfish, golddigger, party-girl Casey needs to get served JUSTICE. And that’s a recipe only the jury can cook up.
