According to the latest gossip from TMZ.com, Zac Efron ended up in a “full-blown melee with at least three other people” in a sketchy part of Los Angeles on Sunday night. The fight was broken up by police officers patrolling the area.

Rejected The Bachelor contestant Melissa Rycroft finally snagged her man this past weekend. Rycroft and insurance agent Tye Strickland married on Saturday in Mexico.

Melissa Rycroft and The Bachelor star Jason Mesnick got engaged in the finale of the show’s 13th season. Rycroft was in for a shock, however, when Mesnick later dumped her on television in favor of runner-up Molly Malaney. Rycroft went on to appear on Dancing with the Stars and work as a correspondent for Good Morning America.
Rycroft may have been burned by love on The Bachelor, but she soon found a new beau in insurance agent Tye Strickland, whom she met at a friend’s birthday party. The two had previously dated before Rycroft appeared on The Bachelor and finally became engaged in June. “Tye and I picked right back up,” Rycroft said in announcing the couple’s engagement. “He’s my best friend.”
Jason Mesnick, meanwhile, announced his engagement to Molly Malaney last October. Mesnick told People magazine he is happy for Rycroft and said “she ended up with the person she was meant to be with.”
Glam rocker Adam Lambert‘s outrageous performance at the American Music Awards prompted over 1500 complaints from viewers to ABC. The network called the complaints a “moderate” response to the sexually charged stage routine. The Parents Television Council, which recently blasted Gossip Girl over their “threesome” episode, loudly denounced Lambert’s antics on stage.

Timothy Winters, president of the PTC, said members of the organization are “outraged” over the show. “They just can’t believe the nature of the content, the explicit nature, and how much graphic content there was.”
Adam Lambert at the AMAs was a whirlwind of sexual suggestiveness and BDSM imagery. Even hardcore fans of Lambert are torn in their response to the performance, which included Lambert leading two dancers on leashes, simulating oral sex on stage and French-kissing a male keyboardist.
Lambert said after the performance, “I had fun, my dancers had fun, the audience that was in the Nokia had fun. Anybody else who was watching it and enjoying it, thank you for being entertained.”
The American Idol runner-up said in an interview before the American Music Awards that he wanted to push the envelope in his performance. “We’ve seen female pop and rock performers do that for the last 10 years,” Lambert said. “They’ve been very provocative, owning their power and sexuality. You just don’t see men doing it very often. And I’m hoping to break down that double standard with this number.”
Taylor Swift on Saturday Night Live last night was a unexpected treat. Swift obviously had a blast poking fun at the whole Kanye West controversy, lightly dissing ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas and teasing about rumors she is dating Twilight star Taylor Lautner in her opening monologue.
Unlike many SNL hosts, Taylor Swift actually wrote her own intro, which may explain why it was actually good for a change. (Hint: You seriously need some new writers SNL.) Also in a seldom-done twist, Swift served as both host and musical guest.
Taylor Swift also proved an able actress on SNL, especially in her quite amusing portrayal of Kate Gosselin in a spoof of The View. She also paid homage to those Taylor Lautner dating rumors again during an SNL Digital Short parody of Twilight.

Roman Polanski will just have to enjoy the cold concrete of a Swiss jail a bit longer. On Tuesday, the Swiss Justice Ministry denied an appeal from Polanski to be released on bail pending extradition to the U.S.

Ministry spokesman Folco Galli said there was too high a risk Roman Polanski would flee Switzerland if he is released from custody. Considering he’s basically been running from the law for 30 years, we’re thinking that’s a pretty wise decision.
Polanski pleaded guilty in 1977 to having “unlawful sex with a minor” after drugging and sexually assaulting then 13-year-old Samantha Geimer. Before sentencing, Polanksi fled from the U.S. to escape possible jail time for his crime. The Oscar-winning director was arrested on Sept 26 at the Zurich airport on his way to receive a lifetime achievement award at the Zurich Film Festival.
Polanski is continuing to appeal for his release and fighting extradition to the U.S. Over 100 celebrities and film industry workers from around the world have signed a petition in support of Polanksi’s plea for freedom.
Singer Katy Perry, who will be stepping in as a guest judge on American Idol this season, wants to be clear she thinks Simon Cowell is an a**hole – but that’s not a bad thing.
Katy “I Kissed a Girl” Perry will appear on the new season of American Idol, along with other guest celebrity judges such as Victoria Beckham, Shania Twain and Sheryl Crow. The rotating guest judges will serve as stand-ins for the recently departed Paula Abdul.
Speaking about her guest spot on American Idol, Katy Perry told EOnline.com she thinks she’ll end up being buddies with snarky judge Simon Cowell because “whenever I watch that show, as much as he’s an a**hole, he’s a very truthful, honest a**hole.”
