Christine O’Donnell staged a walkout Wednesday during an interview with Piers Morgan on CNN. The former Delaware Senate candidate was apparently not interested in talking about her views on gay marriage, despite having expressed her views on the topic quite clearly in the past.
Former Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell was apparently willing to put up with questions about her dabbling in witchcraft. When Piers Morgan went after on the topics of abstinence and gay marriage, however, O’Donnell was having none of it.
“Let’s not even go there,” Christine O’Donnell told Piers Morgan when he asked her about her views on masturbation and abstinence. When he pushed her to talk about her views on gay marriage, O’Donnell told Morgan he was being rude and she was there to “talk about my book.”
Morgan accused O’Donnell of being “weird” by not addressing his questions. “I’m not being weird, you’re being a little rude,” O’Donnell said.
Funny enough, O’Donnell happily talks about gay marriage and sexual issues IN her book, Troublemaker: Let’s Do What It Takes to Make America Great Again. Piers Morgan happily pointed this out, but O’Donnell kept insisting on having the interview go the way she wanted.
“Don’t you think as a host that if I say that’s what I want to talk about that’s what we should address?” O’Donnell said. “Not really, no” Morgan replied.
Moments later, O’Donnell appeared to speak to someone off screen, asking: “Are we off? Are we done?” Then she promptly stood up and walked off the set as someone stood in front of the camera to block the view of her exit.
“I’m still here,” Morgan said after O’Donnell had unexpectedly taken her leave. “It would appear the interview has just been ended,” he said. Morgan did invite O’Donnell to return the next evening if she would like.
After the interview ended, Piers Morgan took to Twitter to comment about the debacle. “Ms. O’Donnell wasn’t happy about me quizzing her re views on witchcraft and sex. But really flipped at gay marriage Qs. Ripped mike and fled,†Morgan Tweeted. “My first ever walk-out in 25 years of interviews,” Morgan continued. “I guess viewers can decide if I was ‘rude’ or not…”
Christine O’Donnell also took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the Piers Morgan walkout. “No hard feelings you cheeky bugger,” O’Donnell said, before declining to appear on the show again.
