Rapper and music producer Nate Dogg has died this week at the age of 41. Â He came to prominence in the ’90s through his association with hip-hop megastars like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, and Warren G.
His unique vocal style made him known even outside the realm of hip-hop, and he was well-respected in the music industry. Â Nate’s health took a hit in 2007 when he suffered a heart attack and stroke. Â As he recovered from the first stroke, a second stroke left him with paralysis and memory loss. Â It is believed that his death was a result of complications from the two strokes.
Snarkista has sad news to report today. The son of infamous rap producer Dr. Dre was found dead at his home on Saturday morning. Andre Romelle Young Jr., 20, was unconscious and unresponsive when his mother went to check on him at approximately 10:30 in the morning. Paramedics were called, but were unable to revive him. Andre Jr.’s cause of death is yet to be determined, but foul play is not suspected.
An autopsy was conducted on Young’s body Monday, but the cause of Andre’s death is pending the results of a toxicology report, a representative for the L.A. County Coroner’s office told MTV News. The coroner’s spokesperson said that Andre spent Friday night with friends. His mother told police that he’d returned home Saturday at around 5:30 a.m., and she’d heard him in his bedroom.
Dre, whose given name is Andre Young Sr, is an award winning producer who discovered the group NWA, and became co-owner of West Coast record label Death Row records. Dre increased his fame for his discovery and production of Eminem.
Dr. Dre’s publicist Lori Earl issued the following statement today on his behalf: “Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family’s grief and privacy at this time.” Snarkfood will follow up with more details as they become available. Snarkista’s prayers go out for the Young family at this extremely sad and difficult time.
It’s Friday, I’m In Love…er sorry! Had a bit of The Cure stuck in my head! It IS Friday, however, and it’s time for another Friday’s Fifteen Minutes- where z-listers get some press while they try to go for twenty! Today’s poster boy is none other than Scott Storch, who just a few years ago, was a top pop music producer, living in a $10.5 million mansion on an exclusive Miami island, driving a stable of exotic cars and dating the likes of Paris Hilton and Lil Kim. Scott got beat with the ugly stick, but his bucks helped the ladies overlook it.
Nowadays, however, he’s pulled an MC Hammer. He owes over $500,000 in real estate taxes and had a warrant out for his arrest when he failed to show up for court in a child-support case last month. He hasn’t had a top 10 hit in three years. He still has his mansion, but his lawyer, Guy Spiegelman, tells the AP that Scott is attempting to refinance it after a “catastrophic occurrence this year” resulting from “mismanagement.” Like dropping too much money on Wonky and Lil Kim! Storch hasn’t talked to either of his children in months.
So what happened? Continue reading Friday’s Fifteen Minutes
