American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino has finally confirmed the rumor she is pregnant with her second child. The American Idol alumni confirmed she is indeed pregnant during a concert on Sunday in Jacksonville, Florida.
Fantasia Barinno pregnancy rumors first popped up again around seven months ago when the singer started gaining a significant amount of weight. Her manager, however, said at the time that she had gained 45 lbs to play gospel singer Mahalia Jackson in a movie role.
On Sunday, Fantasia Barrino came out publicly to her fans that she is pregnant while performing in Florida. “God has given me this child and I don’t have to hide it from none of y’all,” Barrino said at the concert. This will be the second child for Fantasia Barrino, who has a 9-year-old daughter.
“You are the first person that I share this news with, and I share this with you because I can relate to you,” Barrino told the audience. “And for a while I walked around figuring out ‘What will they say and what will they think about me?’ But now I tell you I don’t live my life for folk.”
Barrino did not reveal who the father of her second child is. Speculation is that the baby daddy may be Antwaun Cook, who was still married and living with his wife when he and Fantasia began seeing each other.
Fantasia Barrino overdosed on aspiring and a sleep medication last August after Cook’s wife accused the American Idol winner of adultery. Barrino initially denied she knew Cook was still with his wife when they hooked up, but later admitted she had known they were still together.
Barrino admitted in an interview for VH1’s Behind the Music that her overdose was a suicide attempt spurred by the scandal of her relationship with Cook. She also admitted Cook’s divorce court hearing that she was pregnant with his baby last summer and aborted the fetus around the same time as her overdose.
