Former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino is speaking out about her suicide attempt two weeks ago. In an upcoming interview with VH1, Barrino confirms that her overdose on August 10 was no accident.
“I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out,” 26-year-old Barrino says in an interview for VH1’s Behind The Music. “At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with — all of it, all of that s**t.”
Fantasia Barrino was rushed to the hospital on August 10 after consuming sleep medication and a bottle of aspirin. Barrino has recently been blasted in the media over an affair with a married man named Antwaun Cook. She is also facing a lawsuit in relation to the affair.
Barrino says when she began seeing Antwaun Cook, he was separated from his wife and not living at home. “He didn’t want to be back with his wife — that is what I was told.”
Fantasia Barrino’s new album, Back To Me, hits shelves this week. The VH1 Behind The Music special airs Tuesday night.
