Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows star Daniel Radcliffe has come out publicly to admit he had a drinking problem. In an interview with GQ magazine, Daniel Radcliffe admits he abused alcohol while filming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

“I became so reliant on [alcohol] to enjoy stuff,” Radcliff says in the GQ interview. “I really got away with that because there were many instances when a paparazzi shot like that could have been taken.”
Radcliffe says he decided to sober up in 2010 while filming the final Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows films, the second of which premieres July 15 in theaters.
“There were a few years there when I was just so enamored with the idea of living some sort of famous person’s lifestyle that really isn’t suited to me,” Radcliffe told GQ. “There’s no shame in enjoying a quiet life. And that’s been the realization of the past few years for me.”
Daniel Radcliffe also dished about his relationship with girlfriend Olive Uniacke in his GQ interview and how it has been good for him. “I’m actually enjoying the fact that I can have a relationship with my girlfriend, where I’m really pleasant and not f—ed up totally all the time.”
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 premieres in theaters on July 15.
