Jake and Vienna have officially called off their engagement, their reps confirmed on Tuesday. The real reason why the two called it quits is still a matter of major speculation. Whatever the truth of the break up is, many fans of The Bachelor thought Jake Pavelka made the wrong choice in the first place when he picked Vienna Girardi as his winning suitor.

Ali Fedotowsky, who is now looking for love on The Bachelorette, was a fan favorite to win Pavelka’s heart on The Bachelor. Might Ali be interested in a second shot at Jake now that he’s single again?

Well, according to her, no way. “I’ve made a decision to move forward in my life,” Fedotowsky said, according to Babble.com‘s Famecrawler. “That just wouldn’t be fair to the guys [on the Bachelorette], and it took some time, but I’m healed and moved on from Jake.”

Vienna Girardi adamantly denies she ever cheated on Jake Pavelka with anyone. “The accusations of me cheating are completely fabricated. 100% false,” Girardi said in a post on her Twitter feed. TMZ.com reported earlier in the day that sources claimed Jake Pavelka broke off his engagement to Girardi over suspicion she was hooking up with actor Gregory Michael.

Now the gossip site claims Girardi’s stepmother, Lisa, says Jake Pavelka was a “total fraud” just out for fame and was never in love with Vienna in the first place. EOnline.com, on the other hand, claims Jake broke up with Vienna because she was too “needy” and didn’t give him enough space in the relationship.

Some sources claim Jake and Vienna broke up only in the last 48 hours, while others claim the split happened a month ago. Obviously no one really has any clue about what really went on between Jake and Vienna behind the scenes.

Regardless, Jake Pavelka said he was sad over the whole break up, calling it a “long story.” He also said he had recently spoken to Vienna and the former couple Vienna “will remain friends,” according to a video of the former Bachelor star on TMZ.com.

“Jake and Vienna have split,” the former couple’s rep said in a press statement. “They appreciate the respect for their privacy at this time.”

No official reason was given for the broken engagement, but rumor has it Jake Pavelka may have been experiencing some jealousy pains. TMZ.com claims sources have told them Jake thought fiancée Vienna Girardi had allegedly been cheating on him with Greek actor Gregory Michael.

Then again, we’ve seen a rumors circulating out there that it was Jake who was actually the one suspected of stepping out. Maybe Jake’s decision to take the gig on Dancing With the Stars just put too much distance in the relationship while it was still in the early stages.

Whatever the cause of Jake and Vienna’s break up, we kind of hope he might try to hook up with rejected The Bachelor contestant Ali – the girl we thought he should have picked in the first place!

Buzz Aldrin & Ashly Costa on 'Dancing With the Stars' (ABC)

Unfortunately, we’re not surprised Kate Gosselin stuck around another week even though we think she is by far the worst dancer on the show. Yes, even worse than Buzz Aldrin. At least Aldrin had class. This week Kate Gosselin looked like some kind of Marilyn Manson street-walker and danced walked around the stage like a drugged out wax figure. (We’re still dying over the “super bitch from hell” comment from Bruno Tonioli.) Still, the people love drama and Gosselin is full of it, so we’ll be forced to endure her yet again next week.

The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka joined Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin in the bottom three this week on DWTS. We aren’t quite sure he deserved to be placed so lowly. Pavelka isn’t the next Baryshnikov, but we don’t think he was really all that bad. We are a bit bummed about Buzz leaving, but we think he was pretty aware he wouldn’t last very long in the competition.

We’re still rooting for Evan Lysacek to pull off the win this season, but the competition is getting rather heated for the Olympic gold medalist. Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is tearing it up and ESPN analyst Erin Andrews isn’t half bad herself.

Now, let’s just work on getting Kate Gosselin off the show next week and back to taking care of her kids where she belongs. Then we can finally watch the show without cringing every time her face comes on screen.

“I have like the most impossible decision to make right now,” Ali told The Bachelor star Jake Pavelka before the rose ceremony. “I just found out that I have to choose between staying here and going back to work.”

Ali pushed Pavelka to give her a reason to choose him over her job. “I can’t believe that I have to make this decision, I haven’t made up my mind. The reason I’m here, coming to you right now, is because I wanted to let you know, and I’ll need you to help me,” Ali said.

Pavelka refused to be tied down to any kind of commitment, despite his seemingly strong emotional response to her announcement. “I can’t right now guarantee you that I’m going to put a ring on your finger, but I can’t look you in the eye and tell you that I’m not going to,” he said.

With no commitment from Pavelka, Ali decided she had to return home to keep her job. Pavelka said he was wrecked when Ali walked out. “When she told me she was leaving, my heart stopped,” Pavelka wrote on his People blog. “I wish I could’ve had Mike Tyson punch me square in the jaw, because it would have felt so much better than what I feeling as I watched AliCat drive away that night.”

If Ali does come crawling back, proclaiming she was totally wrong for choosing her job over Jake and proclaiming that he is more important than anything else in her life – wouldn’t that just be the perfect set up for Ali to end up taking the final rose? Or it could be a nice staging for Pavelka to go all dramatic on Ali about her walking out on him and send her packing off for good – that would make for good TV too. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

Jake Pavelka first sent home 30-year-old hair stylist Ella and 26-year-old flight attendant Kathryn. After a shared date with both ladies, he told Ella that although she was “truly the complete package,” he was “developing feelings that are just a little bit stronger for some of the other women.” As for Kathryn, Pavelka said his heart was telling him he was just not the guy for her.

As both girls exited, Pavelka threw the roses in the fire and said, “I know in my heart that neither Kathryn nor Ella was the right girl for me.” We kind of feel bad about Ella leaving, she honestly seemed like she might be a tiny bit more than a shallow, vapid, cardboard cutout excuse for a human being. Not something we can say about most of the other girls on the show.

The big shock came during the rose ceremony at the conclusion of the show. Jake Pavelka asked if he could choose to send home two more ladies instead of just one. Host Chris Harrison told him he could do what he felt was best.

Pavelka promptly sent home 25-year-old cosmetic sales manager Jessie and 25-year-old account manager Ashleigh. Oddly enough, Pavelka kept 25-year-old Vienna, a choice that annoyed some of the other ladies. “Why Vienna?” Jessie asked. “He shocked everyone in there… I think he’ll regret it.”

Ashleigh was seriously pissed by the choice, saying that if “he can’t see what kind of person Vienna is over me, then I pity him.”

We kind of have to agree there. We’d have booted Vienna out the first chance we got. That woman comes across as a viper just waiting to sink her poisonous teeth into someone.

Pavelka blogged about the first night and first elimination round of the new Bachelor — dubbed The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love — season on People.com. “The evening just flew by. There were some extremely wonderful and memorable women that went home the first night but after the evening was over, I was very confident that I had made great choices.”

“I am genuinely here to find my best friend, fall in love and get married,” Pavelka told the ladies when they arrived. At the first Rose Ceremony, Pavelka expressed regret for having to send some of the ladies home. “This is really, really tough. I want to say tonight if you don’t receive a rose, it’s nothing personal. I thank each and every one of you for being yourself.”

While in general we find The Bachelor to be rather insipid television fodder, Pavelka actually comes across as kind of a nice guy. Of course, television can always be deceiving, but we wish him luck in finding that perfect girl for the final rose.

“Ever since Jake, 31, shared a magical one-on-one date with Bachelorette Jillian Harris to see Martina McBride, millions of women have had their ‘Top Gun’ fantasies about him,” ABC said in a press statement. “A fan favorite for his reputation as an honest guy with an open heart — not to mention his good looks — viewers were stunned when Jillian rejected Jake right before the hometown dates on last season’s The Bachelorette.”

The news Jake Pavelka would become the next Bachelor star was announced during Tuesday night’s Dancing With the Stars results show. The new season, subtitled “On the Wings of Love” begins airing in January.

“I’ve dated some really amazing girls, but I’ve never been successful at finding that one girl,” Pavelka told People. “I saw how the whole thing comes together, the process with Jillian. I saw how the process works and I believe in it. That’s a unique way to meet somebody.”
