American Idol 2012 top 5 petite powerhouse Jessica Sanchez has been considered a frontrunner this season since very early on. Although she did once somehow find her way to the bottom and was nearly eliminated, Jessica Sanchez is still consistently ranked in the fan polls as the leading favorite to win American Idol 2012.

Everyone was shocked the week Jessica Sanchez fell into the bottom two and would have been eliminated if the judges hadn’t used their own save of the season to dramatically keep her from being booted off American Idol 2012. Yet, before that she was considered the leading favorite to win and after that week, she has never fallen out of favor again. A strange fluke? Her fans thought she would be safe that week and gave their votes to their second favorite? A wild conspiracy by the American Idol 2012 producers to garner some sympathy for their ‘favorite’? Who knows.

Jessica Sanchez may be the one to beat on American Idol 2012 according to most fan polls, but if we’ve learned anything from the voters, it is to expect the unexpected this season. Despite being a heavy favorite to win American Idol 2012, nothing is ever certain when it comes time for those elimination results to roll in.

Whether you are a Jessica Sanchez fan or not, you have to admit she has built an incredible base of support during her time on American Idol 2012. Except for the one week she was nearly eliminated in the weirdest American Idol results show ever, Jessica Sanchez has never appeared to be in any danger of going home before the finals this year.

Once considered a strong possible favorite to win American Idol 2012, Jessica Sanchez had to be saved by the judges two weeks ago when she ended up ranked last by the voters.

Last week she bounced back and didn’t even land in the bottom three. Where will Jessica Sanchez end up this week? Well, a lot that may well depend on what songs she choose to sing this round.

Jessica Sanchez – “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Judges: Overall the judges are liking it but they aren’t giving the highest praise, except for Randy, who sounds like the president of the Jessica Sanchez fan club. Steven thinks rock is not her forte, but Freddie Mercury would have liked it. Jennifer said it was great but it needed more of a rock edge. Randy thought it rocked and Jessica can sing anything, but she needs to channel some Tina Turner vibe.

American Idol Jessica Sanchez reacts to Jennifer Hudson Twitter praise

“American Idol” hopeful Jessica Sanchez was in tears after receiving praise from Academy Award-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson for her latest performance. Jessica Sanchez soared on a rendition of Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You” on “American Idol” last night. In a night dedicated to paying tribute to Houston (by the girls) and Stevie Wonder (by the boys), Sanchez totally stole the show.

“Yes Jessica! That’s it!!” Jennifer Hudson, a finalist on “American Idol” season three, posted to her Twitter feed after Sanchez’s performance. Even though it was only four short words, the “American Idol” season 11 contestant was moved to tears over the praise.

“Me and my uncle were in the same room when we saw the Tweet and we were like, crying and freaking out,” Jessica Sanchez told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura Saltman after “American Idol” last night. “She’s one of my idols. It’s crazy.”

Jennifer Hudson performed her own rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You,” during a tribute to the late singer for the 2012 Grammy Awards. The song, written by Dolly Parton, was also played at the conclusion of Houston’s funeral last month in New Jersey.

Considering the song is often considered to be Houston’s signature piece, it was something of risk for Sanchez to choose it for her performance, especially considering the recent tragedy of the superstar’s untimely death. Still, Sanchez said she felt “very confident of my choice” and was “really happy” about how it turned out.
