Funny man Jim Carrey and longtime girlfriend Jenny McCarthy have split up after five years together. The break up was announced by both McCarthy and Carrey via their Twitter feeds and Carrey’s rep confirmed the split in a press statement.
“I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I had together,” McCarthy posted to her Twitter page. “I will stay committed to [his daughter] Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”
Jim Carrey also took to Twitter to share about the news of the couple’s split. “I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay!”
Of all the Hollywood break-ups over the past year, we’re kind of most surprised by this one. Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have always been an odd match, but seemed to just click in a weird, but cool way. Back in January at the Super Bowl, they were all grins and giggles. In February, McCarthy told UsMagazine.com she was “really excited” to become a pseudo-grandmother when Carrey’s daughter gave birth to a baby boy.
Well, it’s sad to see what seemed like a fabulous couple taking their final bow, but least they have the class and decency to act like adults about the split and keep it nice and civil!
