Jimmy Fallon to Host 2010 Emmy Awards

Late Night host Jimmy Fallon as been tapped as the host for the Emmy Awards 2010 broadcast. The 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards will air on NBC on Aug. 29. NBC announced Jimmy Fallon would host the awards ceremony on Tuesday.

Fallon, a former Saturday Night Live cast member, joked in a statement that hosting the Emmys “has been a dream of mine ever since they told me I was doing it.”

“Jimmy was the natural choice as one of the most promising and likable young entertainers who will now have the chance to display his many talents on television’s biggest night,” NBC executive vice president of alternative programming Paul Telegdy said in a  press statement. “His proven skills as a comedian and host — as well as his openness to new ideas — will fully engage audiences and ultimately deliver a lively Emmy telecast.”

“Jimmy has many talents. He can sing, he can dance, he does impersonations, and he does it gracefully and with ease. I think he’ll make a terrific host and we are really looking forward to working with him,” executive producer Don Mischer said.

Nominations for the 2010 Emmy Awards will be announced on Thursday, July 8. The awards show will air from 5 to 8 PM PT on August 29.
