John Mayer Throat Surgery Pushes Back New Album to Next Year

Singer John Mayer is on complete vocal rest for the next month and will have to postpone finishing the recording of his new album, Born and Raised, until next year. John Mayer underwent throat surgery last week to remove an inflamed granuloma (nodule) near his vocal cord.

John Mayer was forced to cancel several shows last month because of this throat problems. Attempts to correct the problem by non-surgery means were unsuccessful. “It’s been a very long process in waiting to see if time was an alternative to surgery, but even given two weeks’ voice rest (along with many other approaches), there was no change for the better,” Mayer wrote in his blog on Thursday.

Grammy Award-winning singer Mayer is now recovering but will now be “on complete vocal rest for a month or more,” the singer posted. “I should be frustrated but I can’t seem to stop thinking about beautiful things,” he wrote. “I never thought I’d be wishing I could do what I love again; I stay in at night, picking guitar parts off of records and dreaming of playing on the big stage.”

Although his new album is already halfway finished, the release will have to be delayed until next year until Mayer recovers enough to finish singing on several tracks. Mayer said he has the “the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear.” Until then, he said, he is “taking off. Going to travel the country, look and listen.”

John Mayer Denies Dating Hills Star Kristin Cavallari

“Rumor control: How do I put this like a gentleman…I have never high fived Kristin Cavalari [sic] with my penis,” John Mayer posted on his Twitter feed about the rumors he is dating The Hills star.

Unfortunately, Mayer did not stop there. Apparently he thought this would be a prime opportunity to display his lack of skill as a comedian.

“I’m sure she’s a wonderful gal but we have never tasted the Skittles Rainbow together.” – Weird and slightly disturbing.

“My Milli has never slam danced with her Vanilli.” Kind of gross and terribly outdated.

“I have never Bensoned her Hedges, nor have I attempted to Bartle her James.” – Bad punning taken to an awful extreme.

Take our advice John, don’t give up your day job. Comedy as a backup career is clearly not happening.
