Johnny Depp Set To Star As Boston Mob Boss Whitey Bulger

Johnny Depp set to star as Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger. Johnny Depp has just been tapped to star as notorious Boston mob boss Whitey Bulger. Based on a New York Times bestseller, the film Black Mass is scheduled to begin shooting in May, and will be directed by Barry Levinson.

Bulger, who was allegedly involved in nearly 20 murders, was busted in June 2011 after being on the run and on top of the Most Wanted list for more than a decade. Bradley Cooper is the Sexiest Man Alive

At least, according to People magazine. Daniel Cooper – the star of The Hangover II – was named by the magazine as the sexiest man alive. He joins the ranks of Brad Pitt and George Clooney. And to that we say … really? Not that Cooper isn’t good looking – he’s a successful star in Hollywood, how could he not be?! – but he’s going to be listed alongside people like Johnny Depp, and we kind of don’t think they’re in the same category.

Of course there’s also that unquantifiable je ne sais quoi that Cooper definitely has – on-screen he’s charming yet quirky, lovable yet macho. He’s been linked to Jennifer Lopez and starred in big blockbuster movies so it’s not like he doesn’t have street cred. We’re just not sure if he’s Sexiest Man Alive material.

Alice in Wonderland has already made over $200 million since it hit theaters March 5. In addition to massive ticket sales, the film has also set a number of box office records. Alice had the sixth largest box office opening of all time, the highest debut ever for a 3-D film and the best ever Imax launch.

Coming in second for the weekend was the Matt Damon Iraq war film Green Zone, collecting a relatively paltry $14.5 million for NBC Universal. Rounding out the top five at the weekend box office were Jay Baruchel‘s She’s Out of My League, Robert Pattinson‘s Remember Me and America Ferrera‘s Our Family Wedding.

Johnny Depp Beats Out Robert Pattinson as Sexiest Man Alive

Johnny Depp has taken People‘s sexiest man alive title for the second time in a decade, beating out Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson for the honor. People said the magazine pondered giving the award to New Moon star Robert Pattinson, but felt Johnny Depp’s longevity as a heartthrob lent the actor more weight.

“The thing about Johnny is he has proven his sexiness over the years,” People editor Julie Jordan told Today‘s Natalie Morales. Jordan said Depp was the only actor who “can pull of the sexiness behind such bizarre characters as Willie Wonka and the Mad Hatter.”

Johnny Depp joins Brad Pitt and George Clooney as the only other two-time winner of People’s sexiest man alive title. Depp recently signed on to star in a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film, reprising his role as the flamboyant Captain Jack Sparrow.

Congrats Johnny! We love our RPatz, but you’ve been the object of many tasty fantasies way longer!
