Because being a former Beatle and a British Knight and a multi-squillionaire wasn’t enough, Sir Paul McCartney will now be given a Kennedy Center honor, to be presented at the White House later this year. Â According to the Kennedy Center, the award is for making a significant contribution to United States culture, and for “enriching, inspiring and elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world.”
This is the second time McCartney has been invited to the White House this year. Â Back in June, he won yet another award – the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song – which was also presented to him by the President. Â At this rate, he’ll be due for another one sometime in the middle of 2011, so stay tuned.
