Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries will soon be divorced for real, but their sudden split after only 72 days of wedded bliss have left many wondering if their marriage was ever real in the first place. The two dated for only six months before getting hitched in a lavish, over-the-top wedding filmed for reality TV. The couple reportedly earned ridiculous amounts of money for TV and print photo rights to their wedding and received a horde of luxurious gifts. Certainly a terrific reason to get married to me!

According to Kim Kardashian’s lawyer, celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, her client’s marriage to Kris Humpries was as real as it gets though and not about raking in the dough and presents. She says the proof is in the prenup. “Our office did indeed negotiate and prepare a prenup for Ms. Kardashian,” Wasser told TMZ.com. “Given what I know regarding that document, it is not plausible that this marriage was a sham.”
The prenup allegedly included documentation that dealt with possible issues far into the future, something people planning only a short marriage wouldn’t do, according to Wasser. “Why on earth would they [Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries] create a document which looks far into the future if they planned a marriage that would only last a few months,” Wasser said.
While Kris Humpries claims his split from Kim Kardashian ‘devastated’ him,” he is reportedly ready and willing to sign divorce papers. Despite an earlier rumor Kris was refusing to sign, a source allegedly close to Humpries told People that was not true.
Ironically enough, an interview with Kim Kardashian published in the December issue of Marie Claire features the reality TV star proclaiming that Kris Humphries was the “partner who understands your life and lets you be you.” She also said she and Humphries “have a lot of trust, and I don’t think either of us would do anything to break that.”
