You may not have heard of Betty Garrett, but back in the day you can bet she made your grandpa’s heart flutter. Â The actress and singer, who died last weekend at the age of 91, made her name playing opposite Frank Sinatra in two of Sinatra’s most beloved musicals, On the Town and Take Me Out to the Ballgame.
Later in her career, Garrett was known for roles in All in the Family and Laverne and Shirley, but her true love was always musical theatre. Â Her cinematic career was cut short, however, when her husband was discovered to have been a former Communist at a time when being a Communist meant you got blacklisted.
