Kid Rock in court over smackdown at Waffle House

This is as sad as it is funny – semi-talented musician Kid Rock appeared in court this week to defend himself against claims that he was seen taking a beating up and attacking a customer in an Waffle House restaurant in Atlanta.  While Kid Rock does not deny these allegations, he claims that the fight was actually between two other people, and that he became part of it only when he stepped in to break it up, at which point one of the brawlers attacked him, forcing him to defend himself.

Kid Rock has a history of public fighting, so there’s no reason for a judge to believe his story of self-defense, but for some reason this time his version of events rings true for me.  The man on the other side of the battle, Harlen Akins, is suing for an unspecified amount of money, and I think that says a lot.  Kid Rock is not the richest man in show business, but he’s certainly better off than most of us, and it wouldn’t surprise me if there was some opportunistic lawsuit action going on here.

Sexual Harassment Suit for Britney Spears

It seems that putting on panties still hasn’t been enough to stop Britney Spears‘ sexuality from running amok. Fernando Flores, a former bodyguard of Spears’, has filed a sexual harassment suit, naming Spears as a boss who could not control herself around him, and who continually made unwanted sexual advances.

There used to a time, even after the head-shaving incident, when a lot of guys might have given in and slept with her just because she used to be Britney Spears.  You know you’ve hit a low point in your pop star career when men would rather spend weeks in court and pay thousands of dollars in legal fees than get seduced by you.

Casino Employee Andrea McNulty Sues Ben Roethlisberger for Sexual Assault

Harrah’s Casino employee Andrea McNulty is suing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for sexual assault stemming from an incident in July, 2008 during a celebrity golf tournament. According to NBCSports.com, Andrea McNulty claims Roethlisberger called her to his hotel room to fix his television and then sexually assaulted her.

Roethlisberger ‘s lawyer, David Cornwell, issued a statement to the press Monday strongly denying the accusations. “Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone; especially Andrea McNulty,” Cornwell said. Does anyone else find it odd that Roethlisberger especially did not assault McNulty? Strange turn of phrase there, Mr. Cornwell.

Andrea McNulty has filed a civil lawsuit alleging a list of charges against Ben Roethlisberger, including: assault, sexual assault and battery, false imprisonment, fraud and intentional infliction of emotional distress. However, no criminal charges have been made against the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.

“The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct,” Cornwell said, according to ProFootballTalk.com.  “If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.”

Unidentified sources reported by TMZ.com say that McNulty did have sexual relations with Roethlisberger – but that the relationship was purely consensual.
