Leonardo DiCaprio to make serial killer movie

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has purchased the rights to a book about the first American serial killer, and word has it he’s planning on turning it into a film. The Devil in the White City is Erik Larson’s 2003 non-fiction title about Dr. HH Holmes, a hotel owner who lured young women into his hotel, where he gassed them, dissected them, and sold the remains to medical research facilities.

He is said to have killed as many as 200 people in the 19th century, and Hollywood has been poised to jump all over this story for some time now.  Tom Cruise had originally wanted rights to the book, but the deal fell through, and now it looks like it’s a green light for DiCaprio to tell the story the way he wants to

The Other Guys a Nightmare for Inception at Weekend Box Office

The Other Guys put a sleeper hold on Inception at the weekend box office, knocking the dreamy thriller out of first place after a three week run at the top.

The Other Guys, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, opened this weekend with an estimated $35.6 million in ticket sales. Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, fell to second place with $18.6 million with a total of $227.7 million earned so far in the U.S. and Canada.

Rounding out the top five at the weekend box office were Step Up 3D with $15.5 million, Angelina Jolie‘s Salt with $11.1 million and Dinner for Schmucks at $10.5 million.

Inception still remained the number one box office film abroad over the weekend, bringing the film’s international earnings to an estimated $250 million so far.
