NFL Player Chris Henry Dies in Fall from Truck After Domestic Dispute

NFL player Chris Henry died Thursday from injuries sustained when he fell from a moving truck on Wednesday in Charlotte, NC. The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver was just 26-years-old. The fatal accident reportedly followed a domestic dispute between Henry and his fiancé Loleini Tonga.

“Based on information gathered at the scene, a domestic situation began at 840 Peachtree Road,” the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said in a statement. “[Chris Henry’s] fiancé got into a pickup truck and drove away from the residence. As she was driving away Mr. Henry jumped into the bed of the truck. The domestic situation continued between the operator and Mr. Henry. At some point while she was driving, Mr. Henry came out of the back of the vehicle.”

Emergency responders reportedly found Henry on the road with life-threatening injuries. Henry was transported to a local hospital and placed on life support, but died Thursday mornings.

“At 6:36 a.m. this morning, Chris Henry died as a result of his injuries sustained during this incident,” the police statement concluded. “Detectives with the Homicide Unit and H.I.T.S. Unit are on scene conducting the investigation.”
