Lady Gaga gets defensive; drops an R bomb

Last year it was Jennifer Aniston who got in trouble for using the word “retard” in an interview, and now it’s Lady Gaga‘s turn.  When asked in a recent interview whether she thought her songs and her persona in general were too reminiscent of Madonna, Gaga flew into a rage and called the recent allegations of plagiarism “retarded.”

She went on to say that there is nothing derivative about her music, and that as a songwriter she prides herself on her originality.  Gaga claims that it is ridiculous to compare anything she has ever done to anything Madonna has ever done.  Now, of course, no one cares about the originality thing anymore – they just want to know if she’s going to apologize for saying “retarded.”

Madonna stalker arrested

A Polish Madonna fan has gone completely nutso, and was arrested in Madonna’s home in London after security found  him rolling around on the bed and saying that he was Madonna’s lover.

Grzegorz Matlok broke into an upper-floor window of Madonna’s mansion after no one answered the front door.  He made himself at home, fully believing that he had the right to be there.  Luckily, neither Madonna nor any of her children were in London at the time.  The man has been taken to court and his fate remains to be seen, pending some psychiatric tests to discover just how insane he actually is.

Madonna’s fashion sense embarrasses her daughter

We may be well-accustomed to seeing Madonna’s bits and pieces hanging out everywhere, since she’s been doing it for three decades, but poor 14-year Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter, is getting to that age where seeing her mother’s parts on display is nothing but embarrassing.  Mother and daughter attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party, where Madonna wore an outfit that amounted to little more than a skimpy leotard and some fishnets, with a bit of transparent lace thrown in for good measure.

There was little left to the imagination, and as Madonna turned around and showed her partially bare rear end to eager photographers, Lourdes was heard complaining loudly and telling her mother to act like an adult. I don’t think that message will ever get through – Madonna will continue to dress however she wants until she finally drops dead of exhaustion, which probably won’t happen anytime in the next couple of decades at the very least.

Lady Gaga’s Madonna rip-offs becoming more blatant

There have always been comparisons between Lady Gaga and Madonna, some more favorable than others, but now it’s getting pretty obvious that Gaga is not just honoring Madonna, but pretty much copying her.  Gaga’s new single, “Born This Way,” was released last Friday, and immediately people were talking about how it’s so reminiscent of classic Madonna tracks that the resemblance can’t be denied.

“Express Yourself” and “Vogue” are the two songs that most often come up when people are asked what they think the new Gaga single sounds like, but some have said that it’s reminiscent of “Like a Prayer” or even TLC’s “Waterfalls.”  Good thing imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

Madonna may tour with Glee cast

In case you didn’t know, Madonna is a huge fan of Glee, and not only does she have her own episode, she’s thinking about taking the cast on tour with her, as well.  Madonna has already said that her next tour may be one of her last, and she wants to do something big – given how popular Glee is right now, she could stir up a lot of interest by having some of the cast members on the tour.

There’s nothing official yet, it’s all still Madonna’s people negotiating with the Glee people, but it looks like some of the main characters from the show will appear for collaborative numbers on stage, sort of blurring the line between a concert and a musical.  That could be interesting, as long as it doesn’t become too cheesy.

Cameron Diaz and A-Rod enjoy France

Cameron Diaz and her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, have been spotted enjoying Paris as a loving couple.  The two are shacked up in a swanky hotel room, and have been seen having romantic dinners, shopping at Chanel, and visiting museums.

They appear to be having a wonderful time and are taking in everything the city has to offer.  That’s sweet and everything, and I wish them all the best, but I have to admit I don’t get Cameron’s taste in men.  She seems to have a fetish for pop star leftovers – first Britney’s ex, and now Madonna’s.  If Cameran ever starts dating Jordan Bratman, I think we may need to stage an intervention.

Piers Morgan tries to slam Madonna, fails

Poor Piers Morgan, whose stint as the new-and-diluted fake Larry King got off to a tepid start this week, has launched a pathetic attempt to make himself seem cool and powerful by banning Madonna from his show.  Stating that Madonna was “too vegan” to be of much interest to his television viewing audience, he said that he’d prefer to stick to people who are more relevant and current, such as Mel Gibson, Barack Obama, or Lindsay Lohan.

Considering how far from the cutting edge Morgan’s interview with Oprah was, perhaps he shouldn’t start banning people and trying to act like he’s all that until he’s established some sort of reputation as the superstar host he seems to think he is.  In fact, Madonna got the last word when she was asked what she thought about being banned by Piers Morgan – her rep simply replied, “Madonna doesn’t know who Piers Morgan is.”  Ouch.
