Alanis Morissette Married Rapper Souleye – But Who the Hell is He?

We’ll be honest, until we found out Alanis Morissette married rapper Mario “MC Souleye” Treadway, we’d never heard of the guy. Seriously, the guy doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page that we can find, although we’re sure that will be rectified shortly now that he’s married Morissette.

 Turns out Mario Treadway, a.k.a. Souleye, is six years younger than new wife Morissette. She’s 36, he’s just 30. The two reportedly met sometime in October, 2009 about the same time Morissette was breaking it off with boyfriend Tom Ballanco, an environmental lawyer. 

Souleye is also reportedly an activist type, something Morissette no doubt likes about him. He has spoken out frequently regarding universal health care and environmental causes. 

Rapper Souleye reportedly prefers to “perform freestyle” with “completely improvisational lyrics” to “allow the present audience to participate and be involved in the creation and collective energy of the music,” according to one press statement about him at FijiNewYears.com. 

Alanis Morissette and Souleye have apparently been living together for some time in Los Angeles in the same home where the two got married in May.

There was no rain on this wedding day for Alanis Morissette when she married rapper Mario “MC Souleye” Treadway in a private ceremony on May 22.

Alanis Morissette and Treadway managed to keep the wedding a secret for weeks, but a rep for the singer finally confirmed the nuptials on Monday.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette and rapper Souleye wed at their Los Angeles home in an intimate ceremony. The two reportedly began dating in October, 2009. It is the first marriage for both.

Morissette was previously engaged to actor Ryan Reynolds, but split up with him in 2006. She also previously dated Full House star Dave Coulier.
