Well, the bubble is finally starting to burst for Mel Gibson, who up until recently could still fall back on the success of his acting career, but even money-hungry Hollywood production houses are no longer willing to risk upsetting people by hiring an abusive, bigoted rageaholic. Â It seems that the cameo role that was offered to Gibson in Hangover 2 has now been snatched away and given to Liam Neeson instead.
Producers claim that many cast and crew members complained about the choice of Gibson, and some flat-out refused to work with him. Â Gibson says he doesn’t understand why Mike Tyson was given a second chance while ol’ Mel remains in the dog house. Â Um, maybe it’s because Tyson repented for his behavior and turned his life around instead of blaming everyone else, threatening people, and flying off on anti-semitic rants? Â Just a guess.
Neither Oksana Grigorieva nor Mel Gibson have been particularly level-headed about their very public relationship drama, but up until now, it at least looked like Oksana had managed to dodge a bullet by getting herself safely away from Mel Gibson and his violent, bigoted tirades. Â But it appears now that the actor’s ex-girlfriend did something, very, very dumb – she signed a custody agreement giving Gibson 50/50 joint custody of their daughter, Lucia. Â
Oksana now says she did not understand what she was signing, but even if that were a legitimate excuse (no judge in the world is going to buy that), it’s laughable to say that she didn’t understand the agreement, as it spells out very clearly the rights that Gibson would be given. Â The baby Lucia herself could probably understand it, that’s how simple the agreement is. Â So congratulations, Oksana, you win the award for dumbest parental decision of the year. Â All she can hope for now is that Gibson makes good on one of his violent threats, and gets his parental rights revoked in court.
The man who played Kramer on Seinfeld, actor Michael Richards, has been in a lot of Mel-Gibson-style hot water during the past few years. Â First he got in trouble for dropping the N-bomb several times in anger during one of his stand-up routines in 2006, and now it appears he’s being accused of going nuts and attacking a photographer. Â Brendon O’Neal, the photographer in question, claims that he was approached by Richards on August 25th, and that Richards suddenly launched an all-out attack.
According to the lawsuit, Richards punched and kicked O’Neal repeatedly and without provocation, and that it appeared Richards was aiming for O’Neals hands and camera. Â I’ll be the first to admit that the paparazzi can be annoying as hell, but Richards doesn’t exactly have a great track record for controlling himself, and I wonder how his defense will be presented. Â We’ll see.
Oh Mel Gibson, you’re always in hot water. Now Mel’s former love interest, Oksana Grigorieva – a pianist and composer known for her relationships with high-profile men – is demanding that he pay for the $84,000 in PR expenses and legal fees she racked up after tapes of him berating her in colorful and offensive language surfaced.
Oksana apparently felt hiring PR reps was the only way counter someone as big and powerful as Mel Gibson.  She insists she didn’t sell the tapes – felt she was getting trashed in the media. It’s unlikely a judge would award payment for legal expenses when so far he’s only ruled monetary damages based on need. But the verdict for the case is still out. The verdict on Mel’s rampant, abusive behavior? We’ll let you be the judge!
Sources say Oksana wants Judge Scott Gordon in the custody/child support case to clear the $84,000 debt.
Here’s the disconnect.
The judge would never award money for PR expenses. Aside from legal fees, Judge Gordon would adjust the existing agreement — $5,000 a month plus the house — only based on the needs of baby Lucia.
As TMZ first reported, Oksana’s lawyers have gone to court and asked Judge Gordon to up the monthly child support obligation to upwards of $40,000.
TMZ is told the judge has yet to rule on the request.
