Melissa Etheridge and wife Tammy Lynn Michaels have called it quits on their nine year relationship! The couple was married in Malibu, CA in 2003 and have two children born in 2006. Melissa Etheridge’s rep confirmed the split from Tammy Lynn Michaels to People on Wednesday.
“Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are saddened to announce that they are now separated,” the singer’s rep told People. “We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period,” the ex-couple said in a joint statement.
Of all the Hollywood couples to break up, we’re rather surprised over this one. Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels have been through thick and thin together. Etheridge credits Michaels for helping to save her life when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. “When it was over, I came home to a bouquet that said ‘In sickness and in health,’ and she means it,” Etheridge told Extra in 2006. “And the love and support of someone like that is worth all the money in the world.”
We’re quite sad to hear the love fest is over between these two amazing women. We wish them both the best and hope they will keep things amicable for the sake of their children.
