Randy Jackson, brother of Michael Jackson, is furious over filming of the music superstar’s funeral from a media helicopter during the event. The Jackson family allowed a live video feed from the Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park as guests arrived to the funeral, but asked it to be cut off when Michael Jackson’s body arrived. However, an unauthorized media helicopter hovered over the funeral and continued to film.
Randy Jackson says the helicopter intrusion “severely disrupted” the memorial service for Michael Jackson. The singer’s brother said he was “dismayed” by the lack of respect from the helicopter filming crew and has requested the media pull any video taken by them.
“We had asked the media to respect the privacy and the sanctity of this event; to give us one moment of privacy to mourn as a family out of the public spotlight,” Randy Jackson said in a statement to the press. “Unfortunately, despite a no-fly zone around Forest Lawn, many media organizations decided to ignore our wishes.”
“I therefore ask today that media organizations airing helicopter footage of the ceremony we held for my brother immediately pull that footage from their air and refrain from airing it in the future.â€
Around 200 family, friends and celebrities gathered to pay their last respects to pop icon Michael Jackson at his funeral. Last week, the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office ruled Jackson’s death a homicide by drug overdose. So far, no charges have been madeagainst anyone in the investigation.
Almost two months after the tragic death of Michael Jackson, the iconic music superstar will be finally laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA, on Wednesday. The private funeral for Jackson will begin at 7 p.m.
The body of Michael Jackson will be given a final resting place in the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn, which also serves as the burial spot for numerous other Hollywood celebrities. Police and security in the area will be extremely heavy and authorities will be flying air patrols over the cemetery.
All the costs of these support services, estimated at up to $150,000, will be charged to Jackson’s estate. Parking on nearby streets will be closed off, some streets will be closed entirely, and traffic is expected to be heavily disrupted in the area around Forrest Lawn well into the evening.
Last week, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office officially declared Michael Jackson’s death a homicide by drug overdose. Jackson reportedly died from a lethal dose of the powerful sedative propofol in combination with a score of other prescription drugs. Jackson’s personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, has admitted to injecting the singer with propofol shortly before his death but has not yet been charged with any crime.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jack Kevorkian, aka “Dr. Death”, told Fox News correspondent Neil Cavuto that Michael Jackson “got what he wanted” from Dr. Conrad Murray and defended the physician’s actions.
Dr. Kevorkian said he does not believe Dr. Murray acted maliciously when he gave Michael Jackson the drugs he allegedly asked for. “Murder is defined as malice aforethought,” Kevorkian said in the interview. “Did he have that aforethought? I doubt it,” he said. “Maybe Jackson craved these things so much pestered the doctor until he got it.”
The date for Michael Jackson‘s funeral has been pushed back to September 3rd, the Jackson family has announced. Michael’s father, Joe Jackson, leaked the news earlier this week that the burial was scheduled to be held on what would have been the pop icon’s 51st birthday, August 29th.
Initially the Jackson family confirmed the funeral for Michael Jackson would take place on August 19th. Then it was rumored the date had changed to August 31. The family released an official statement on Friday saying the service would be pushed back to September 3rd. No reason was given for the move. Michael Jackson’s body will be interred at Glendale, California’s exclusive Lawn Memorial Park Great Mausoleum.
Meanwhile, the release of the Michael Jackson movie documentaryThis Is It has been moved up to October 28. The film, which features footage of Jackson rehearsing for his London comeback tour, will play in theaters for a limited run of two weeks. Tickets for the movie go on sale September 27.
As for the date on which people will actually let Michael Jackson finally rest in peace, we estimate that to be sometime between never and a snowball’s chance in hell.
Michael Jackson will be finally buried on his birthday, or so his father says. Joe Jackson reportedly told the New York Daily News that his son would be laid to rest on what would have been Michael Jackson’s 51st birthday on August 29.
Rumors regarding the whereabouts of Michael Jackson’s body have been circulating for weeks. Now 81-year-old Joe Jackson says the family is planning a final funeral for the pop icon at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. A public memorial service was held for Michael Jackson on July 7.
Whether or not Joe Jackson really knows what the hell is actually going on is still in debate. Certainly, publically announcing the when and where of Michael Jackson’s burial could likely to lead to a change in plans for the family. Doubtless they would prefer to avoid a huge media frenzy and horde of fans showing up for what should be a private moment.
Meanwhile, the investigation into Michael Jackson’s death continues and the release of official autopsy results continues to be delayed.
