Miss Universe transgender contestant Jenna Talackova may be allowed to compete after all. The Miss Universe Canada contestant was abruptly disqualified from the competition last week when pageant organizers discovered Jenna Talackova was born male and lied on her application about her transgender status.

Jenna Talackova, 23, was born male but claims she has identified as a female since the age of 4. She began undergoing hormone therapy at age 14 and had gender reassignment surgery at 19. In her application to the Miss Universe pageant, Talackova stated she was born a female. Miss Universe Organization staff became suspicious of Talackova and removed her from the competition after discovering she had lied about her birth gender.

A Miss Universe Canada transgender contestant has been thrown out of the competition after it was discovered the 6’1″ blonde model was born a male. Jenna Talackova was disqualified from the Miss Universe Canada competition after it was found she had lied about being born a female on the beauty pageant’s application form.

Jenna Talackova, 23, was thrown out of the Miss Universe Canada pageant “because she did not meet the requirements to compete despite having stated otherwise on her entry form,” the Miss Universe organization said in a press statement. Although Talackova originally stated on her application that she was born a female, she later confessed to being born male when confronted after some staff in the organization became suspicious of her past.
