Former Smiths front man Morrissey is resting at home today after a frightening collapse on stage Saturday night. Morrissey, 50, was rushed to the hospital after having breathing difficulties during a concert in the UK this weekend.
Witnesses said Morrissey was “straining” to perform at the concert Saturday night in Swindon at the Oasis Leisure Centre. Morrissey reportedly took to the stage and addressed fans by saying “Good Evening, probably” before launching into a rendition of “This Charming Man” before collapsing. Audience members described Morrissey’s collapse on stage as frightening, saying the singer slumped to his knees and had to be help off stage by two band members.
Paramedics were called to the scene to attend the singer, who was allegedly suffering from respiratory problems. A spokeswoman for the hospital where Morrissey was admitted released a statement saying “he was admitted overnight as a precautionary measure. He’s been seen by the medical team, much improved and now discharged home.”
Morrissey has cancelled a number of concerts this year due to illness.
