Call this one a BIG Oops! Rihanna was supposed to receive the “Best International Song” award at the NRJ Awards in Cannes for her single ‘Disturbia’. However, the votes of listeners to radio station NRJ had been incorrectly calculated, meaning that Katy Perry was invited to collect the award from the host. Now, Rihanna and Katy are both very quirky dressers, but it’s pretty easy to tell them apart!
After Katy personally retrieved the award, the station admitted that there had been an “administrative mistake” in the vote counting. Fire the monkey in the closet! Later in the evening, Katy was legitimately awarded with the prize for “Best International Album” for her 2008 debut, One For The Boys. Britney Spears was also a significant winner, snagging awards for “Best International Female” and “Best Single” for ‘Womanizer’. Yes, Woooooomanizer won “Best Single”. Sigh.
