Mel Gibson’s mistress says he’s not racist

Violet Kowal, who spent some sexy time with Mel Gibson while he was with Oksana Grigorieva, claims that Mel is not racist, homophobic, anti-semitic, or any other kind of hateful person.  Kowal’s argument is that while Mel may have said some unfortunate things that made their way to the press, in person he has always been a kind and tolerant person, and she has never heard him make derogatory comments about anyone.

Mel, of course, agrees – in a recent interview, he admitted to having said some racist things, but claims that it was just a low moment in his life, and not representative who who he really is.

Mel Gibson’s plea deal

Mel Gibson has had more than a year to wait to find out what was going to happen in his battery case with Oksana Grigorieva, and now it seems the wait is over.  Prosecutors have offered a plea deal with a reduced charge (battery rather than corporal injury), and mandatory counseling without any jail time.  In other words, he’s basically getting no punishment at all.

Mel is reportedly glad about the plea deal, as he claimed he was worried about the effects a lengthy trial might have on his children.  I can’t imagine the effects of a trial would be any worse than the effects of having an abusive rageaholic bigot for a father, but hey.

Mel Gibson will be charged, Oksana will not

It seems the D.A. is finally coming to a decision about what to do with Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva, and it looks like both of them will get off easy.  There’s not really enough evidence to charge Oksana with extortion, even though she’s known to have demanded money from him in order to destroy taped evidence of his violent ways.

Mel, on the other hand, will most likely be charged with domestic violence, but only at the misdemeanor level – this means that at most he’ll serve six months in county jail, and probably the judge will reduce it to probation.  So basically nothing bad is going to happen to either Mel or Oksana… I say put them in a room together and let them claw at each other.

Oksana dumb enough to let Mel Gibson have joint custody

Neither Oksana Grigorieva nor Mel Gibson have been particularly level-headed about their very public relationship drama, but up until now, it at least looked like Oksana had managed to dodge a bullet by getting herself safely away from Mel Gibson and his violent, bigoted tirades.  But it appears now that the actor’s ex-girlfriend did something, very, very dumb – she signed a custody agreement giving Gibson 50/50 joint custody of their daughter, Lucia.

Oksana now says she did not understand what she was signing, but even if that were a legitimate excuse (no judge in the world is going to buy that), it’s laughable to say that she didn’t understand the agreement, as it spells out very clearly the rights that Gibson would be given.  The baby Lucia herself could probably understand it, that’s how simple the agreement is.  So congratulations, Oksana, you win the award for dumbest parental decision of the year.  All she can hope for now is that Gibson makes good on one of his violent threats, and gets his parental rights revoked in court.

Oksana to Mel Gibson: Pay for my PR!

Oh Mel Gibson, you’re always in hot water. Now Mel’s former love interest, Oksana Grigorieva – a pianist and composer known for her relationships with high-profile men – is demanding that he pay for the $84,000 in PR expenses and legal fees she racked up after tapes of him berating her in colorful and offensive language surfaced.

Oksana apparently felt hiring PR reps was the only way counter someone as big and powerful as Mel Gibson.  She insists she didn’t sell the tapes – felt she was getting trashed in the media. It’s unlikely a judge would award payment for legal expenses when so far he’s only ruled monetary damages based on need. But the verdict for the case is still out. The verdict on Mel’s rampant, abusive behavior? We’ll let you be the judge!

Sources say Oksana wants Judge Scott Gordon in the custody/child support case to clear the $84,000 debt.

Here’s the disconnect.

The judge would never award money for PR expenses. Aside from legal fees, Judge Gordon would adjust the existing agreement — $5,000 a month plus the house — only based on the needs of baby Lucia.

As TMZ first reported, Oksana’s lawyers have gone to court and asked Judge Gordon to up the monthly child support obligation to upwards of $40,000.

TMZ is told the judge has yet to rule on the request.
