Former talk show diva Rosie O’Donnell has confirmed she and wife Kelli Carpenter are having serious marriage troubles. Rumors the two have broken up have been floating around for a while, but this is the first time O’Donnell has publicly confirmed her marriage to Carpenter is on the rocks.

Although Rosie O’Donnell would not confirm Kelli Carpenter has moved out of the couple’s New York home, she did tell USA Today they are “working on our issues.”
“We’re a family. We will remain a family forever,” O’Donnell said. The former View hostess said her and Kelli’s four children remain the couple’s top priority, saying “everything’s fine and everybody’s good and we’re still both raising them together.”
“Kelli and I love each other very much and we are working on our issues,” O’Donnell stated. “Those are the only words I am ever going to say. Ever. And that is something that has been agreed up on by all parties.”
Rosie O’Donnell and Kelli Carpenter were among the first couples to get hitched when same-sex marriages were briefly legalized in San Francisco in February, 2004. The couple have four children together, from ages 6 to 14. Three of the children are adopted, daughter Vivienne was conceived by Carpenter via artificial insemination.
O’Donnell recently said on her blog that marriage is “very very very hard.” So, unfortunately, are divorces – and we wish both Rosie and Kelli well in resolving their issues amicably.
