After months of split rumors, the Katy Perry and Russell Brand divorce is finally confirmed! British comedian Russell Brand officially filed for divorce from pop star wife Katy Perry on Friday. The two were married inÂ October, 2010 near the tiger sanctuary in IndiaÂ where Brand proposed in a private Hindu wedding.

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage,” Russell Brand said in a press statement. “I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” In divorce documents filed on Friday, the causeÂ given for the split was “irreconcilable differences.” In the filing, Katy Perry is listed by her real name, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson. No official date of separation is noted.
