Marc Jacobs, Marcus Wainwright Take Top Honors at Council of Fashion Designers of America Gala

Marc Jacobs took home top honors in women’s wear and Marcus Wainwright (rag & bone) took the prize for men’s wear at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Gala last night. The highlight of the evening, however, was the celebratory tribute to late fashion icon Alexander McQueen.

Jewelry designer Alexis Bittar rounded out the top winners for the night at the CFDA gala, winning the top award in the accessories category. Emerging artists Jason Wu (women’s wear), Richard Chai (men’s wear) and Alexander Wang (accessories) all walked away with Swarovski Awards for their contributions to the fashion industry.

Supermodel Iman was gifted with the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA ceremony, while designer Michael Kors won the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

Besides all the glam, glitz and awards, the night was most notable for the moving tribute to designer Alexander McQueen, who committed suicide in February.

Wearing a dress by the fallen designer, Sarah Jessica Parker called McQueen “talented well beyond his years” during a presentation of his final collection on stage. Parker said McQueen, whose designs she wore in Sex and the city 2, “had the most beautiful hands I have ever seen.”

Sex and the City 2 Stars Blue Carpet Premiere

The stars of Sex and the City 2 hit New York last night for the premiere of the film at the Radio City Music Hall and we’re bring you video of the glam event! Leading ladies Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis were on hand to celebrate the premier, along with their hot male co-stars John Corbett (Aidan) and Chris Noth (Mr. Big).

Instead of the traditional red carpet, the cast of Sex and the City 2 strutted down a ‘blue’ carpet for the world premiere of the film. Hollywood was indeed in New York last night, with more celebrities than you can count turning out for the event. New Sex and the City 2 Trailer is Here!

The new Sex and the City 2 trailer video is finally here and it’s looking tasty! In addition to featuring our girls Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis, the new trailer also gives us a peek at the slew of celebrity cameo appearances in the upcoming film.

The new Sex and the City 2 trailer video also features a yummy glimpse of John Corbettt as Carrie’s former fiancÃ© Aidan Shaw looking very hot and sexy in the desert, plus some nice shirtless Mr. Big action. We also spotted three celebrity cameos in the video clip; can you pick ’em out too?

Sex and the City 2 premieres on May 27 and you can bet we’ll be first in line!

Sarah Jessica Parker: NOT A Fashion Icon

Sarah Jessica Parker is insane if she thinks we’re buying the “fashion icon” crap from her anymore. Horsey has shown up in some whacked-up outfits, including hats from the Dr. Seuss collection, and the press just laps it up. Well, not HERE, SJP.

Wearing your gramma’s sweater over her pillowcase, with a knee-length body-girdle over fishnets, and shoes from Terminator.…No. Just no. Only certifiable idiots will call this “fashion.” We are in a recession, and the papz can’t afford to buy new lenses every time you step out and shatter them. There is nothing in the bailout for replacement camera lenses. So fire the stylist…or HIRE a stylist, and do your part to pitch in. It’s the patriotic thing to do.

As you probably know, there is a new Sex And The City movie. The flick has been LONG awaited by millions of die-hard fans. It’s been on-again, off-again for what seems like a decade. Many of you, no doubt, have seen pics from the London opening- featuring Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a green hat from the Dr. Seuss: Seussical In the Poconos Collection. Sadly, this latest round of SATC fug did not stop at the premiere.

Vogue Magazine’s June 2008 issue features SJP on the cover, as lensed by Annie Leibovitz- fresh from her Miley Cyrus punk over at Vanity Fair. Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editrix royale, is deadly serious about her important fashion AND the bottom line. What an irresistible convergence a Sex And The City themed spread must have been! Sarah Jessica’s ALL about important fashion too! Anna knows the issue should sell well, so I think she took the chance to take SJP down a smidge- just to remind her who’s the ultimate queen of couture!

Sarah Jessica’s portraying a 40 year old bride in the shoot, and “Mr. Big”, Chris Noth, is in it as well. Mr. Big is trying to sit on SJP’s shoulders in the cover shot, and as Chris IS big, and SJP is tiny- the look of gasping pain on her face is understandable. She looks like she just got kidney-punched. “And…Snap! We’ve got it!” (Leibovitz, still grasping for controversy.)

Ooooh, I can just picture Anna Wintour now, perusing the proofs- looking for just the right one. “This is it. We’ll put the clean-water scare where it looks like that’s what SJP is gasping about. Clean water IS important to readers, I’m sure. Put the Sex And the City hook over the bony arm Chris ISN’T crushing, and make it big enough to hide those heinous extensions Ken Paves gave us. Those are too cruel even for me. And NO PHOTOSHOPPING! I want her to LOOK 50. That’s the story, right? She’s a 50 year old bride? Oh…40? That’s what I said. It’s perfect.”
