The Stephen Colbert Super PAC, Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow, is buying up South Carolina Primary airtime and we can’t wait to see what the Comedy Central star is going to do with it. Colbert announced jokingly last night that he was forming an “exploratory committee” for a possible Republican presidential run.
As a presidential candidate, Stephen Colbert would not be able to be the head of a Super PAC, or political action committee. A Super PAC, according to Wikipedia, is a private group dedicated to the promotion and election of a political candidate or the passage of legislature. A PAC is an organization which receives contributions or spends more than $1,000 for the purpose of influencing a federal election.
