American Idol alum Tamyra Gray may have been robbed of her chance to compete in the finals on the 1st season of the show, but she’s still got plenty to celebrate. Gray announced this week she is pregnant and expecting her first baby with music producer husband Sam Watters.

Tamyra Gray married former Color Me Badd singer and music producer Sam Watters in 2006. Gray and her husband co-parent Watters’ son from a previous marriage, but the new baby on the way will be the first biological child for the couple.
Gray rose to fame in 2002 as one of the top ten finalists on the 1st season of American Idol. Although she eventually finished fourth in the competition, many felt she strongly deserved to make it to the final two and compete against Kelly Clarkston for the American Idol crown.
After American Idol, Tamyra Gray went on to land a recurring role on Boston Public and perform in several Broadway productions. She also had a role in the independent film The Gospel and co-wrote the #1 Billboard Hot 100 song “I Believe”. Gray is currently working on a new album, but no release date has yet been announced.
Congrats to the happy couple! Gray was always one of our American Idol favorites and we hope the future holds many more great things in store for her.
