Taye Diggs and wife Idina Menzel welcomed a new baby boy to the family on Wednesday. The Private Practice star and the Broadway siren met on the set of the musical Rent in 1996.
A rep for the couple released a statement saying “mother, father and son are all doing well.” The baby boy’s name, Walker Nathaniel Diggs, was announced via a Twitter Idina Menzel fan club post. Tony Award-winning actress Idina Menzel, 37, and actor Taye Diggs, 38, married in January, 2003. Walker is the couple’s first child.
Idina Menzel is best known for her star turn in the revolutionary musical Rent and her Tony Award-winning performance in the Broadway Wizard of Oz spin-off musical Wicked.
Taye Diggs is currently starring in the ABC drama Private Practice and has appeared in such feature films as How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Chicago and Brown Sugar. Diggs has also taken his own turn as a star on Broadway, including acting alongside Menzel in Rent.
