A low-quality copy of “Mine” leaked to the Web on August 4. Swift’s record label quickly decided to do an immediate release of the official single to combat the leaked file. “Mine made it into the Top 40 on Billboard’s Top Country Songs just a few hours after being released.

Taylor Swift describes the news single as a reflection of her own love-life, saying that she has “developed this pattern of running away” when a relationship gets serious, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She says the song is about the hope of “finding someone who would make you believe in love and realize that it could work out.”

“Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?/ You put your arm around me for the first time/ You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter/ You are the best thing that’s ever been mine,” Swift sings.

Swift will perform the new single during ABC’s CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock airing on September 1. Swift’s third album, Speak Now, is due to hit shelves in October.
