Toy Story 3 made its Pixar creators very happy in the weekend box office with the studio’s biggest opening weekend ever. Toy Story 3 beat out The Karate Kid and The A-Team 2010 remakes to land the top spot. As for Warner Brothers’ much hyped Jonah Hex, the Megan Fox and Josh Brolin starring film came in a pitiful 8th place for its opening weekend.

Pixar’s latest animated offering was expected to rake in huge numbers for its weekend box office opening and it did not dissapoint. Toy Story 3 earned $109 million, coming in second only to Shrek the Third for the record of best opening weekend for an animated movie. The Karate Kid 2010 remake placed second with only a paltry $29 million in comparison.
In a rather nasty blow to Warner Bros., the studio’s adaption of DC Comics’ Jonah Hex came in way down the list at 8th place after receiving a slew of negative criticism in pre-release. The film only earned $5.1 million for its weekend box office opening.
