‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ May Spawn Two Films

According to the latest buzz, the final book in the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, may be broken up into two films. The rumor the last book would be split into two movies has been going around for a while, but it looks like Summit Entertainment may seriously be considering the idea.

A report by industry mag Variety says Summit Entertainment is contemplating splitting the final Twilight book into dual films and is ready to put the plan into action. However, director Chris Weitz,  screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and author Stephenie Meyer have only been contracted for four films in total.

While Rosenberg and Meyer probably won’t mind receiving another hefty payday, Weitz isn’t all aboard the idea of yet another Twilight film. Weitz told Entertainment Weekly last week he might be interested in doing another Twilight film, but said “I just think I would die” if faced with another New Moon-like PR blitz tour.

To add on another film out of Breaking Dawn, Summit would also have to work out new contracts with the Twilight stars, including Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. Considering the huge haul New Moon has made in ticket sales so far, that could be quite a pricey negotiation.

Breaking Dawn is such a hefty, complex book, it might not be a bad idea to spit it into two films. The question is whether the Twilight frenzy among fans can be maintained long enough to play out through five movies.

‘New Moon’ Breaks ‘Harry Potter’ Record for Midnight Premiere Ticket Sales

Twilight sequel New Moon has broken the previously impressive midnight box office record of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price, Summit Entertainment officials announced Friday. New Moon took in $26.3 million in midnight showing sales in the U.S. The Twilight sequel is projected to earn a whopping $100 million during the film’s opening weekend.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON

By contrast, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince took in $22.2 million in midnight screenings this part July. New Moon is now the all-time highest grossing film for midnight screenings in the U.S. We’re sure it won’t be the last record New Moon will make in ticket sales and overall profits.

Summit Entertainment also raked in an additional 1.3 million in ticket sales on Thursday with special screenings of Twilight in advance of the New Moon premiere.

The moral of the story is, make the Twilight fans happy and they’ll make your wallets happy too!

Twilight New Moon Volturi Fight Scene Video

If Summit Entertainment keeps releasing all these preview clips from New Moon, we’ll be able to piece the whole new Twilight film together ourselves before it ever hits theaters! Not that we’re really complaining about that.

With fans salivating for every New Moon photo or video they can find, Summit keeps ramping up the hype for the new Twilight film by teasing fans with tiny new clips from the upcoming movie. This week, the studio released two new New Moon video clips for fans to drool over.

The first new clip, available for download from iTunes, features new footage of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner) facing off with Bella (Kristen Stewart) trying to keep them from tearing each other’s throats out. And as a side note, Taylor Lautner is certainly looking yummy!

The second new New Moon video clip gives us some of the best video footage of the Volturi yet. In the clip, Edward gets slammed by Volturi bad boy Felix (Daniel Cudmore) after the Volturi council decides Bella “knows too much.” It’s the most action-packed clip yet and we’re itching for more.

New Moon hits theaters on November 20th in the U.S. (Which is not soon enough!)
