For a gossip hound, Twitter is a vital tool to keep up on the latest happenings in Hollywood. Thus, it’s a true pain in the butt when we are suddenly left without our juicy Tweets to salivate over. That’s what happened last night when Twitter.com was hacked by a group calling itself the ‘Iranian Cyber Army’.

The massive micro-blogging service was brought down last night when its home page was hijacked. The site was redirected to a page for a group calling themselves the Iranian Cyber Army. The message left for confused and annoyed Twitter users on the page read:
Iranian Cyber Army
THIS SITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY IRANIAN CYBER ARMY
U.S.A. Think They Controlling And Managing Internet By Their Access, But They Don’t, We Control And Manage Internet By Our Power, So Do Not Try To Stimulation Iranian Peoples To….
NOW WHICH COUNTRY IN EMBARGO LIST? IRAN? USA?
WE PUSH THEM IN EMBARGO LIST
Take Care.
Twitter was eventually restored, although it took a while. The company stated on their status blog that the site’s “DNS records were temporarily compromised but have now been fixed. We are looking into the underlying cause and will update with more information soon.”
