When Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson took a crazy wedding dance down the aisle to kick off their ceremony, they naturally decided to post the once-in-a-lifetime moment on YouTube. They likely thought their friends and family would get a kick out of it – and hell, other people might enjoy it too. Heinz and Peterson probably did not imagine, however, that the wedding dance down the aisle video would launch them into the national spotlight as newly crowned Internet celebrities.
You just never know what is going to go viral and take over the Net these days. But when you have a YouTube video explode over the web and gather over 2 million views in less than a week – it’s pretty much guaranteed you have a hit on your hands. If you haven’t seen the clip yet, you have probably been away somewhere climbing a mountain in Tibet. But just in case, you can check it out below.
Kevin Heinz and Jill Peterson decided they wanted to do something just a little bit different to open their wedding ceremony on June 20. Peterson (now Mrs. Heinz) told Good Morning America that she has always loved to dance. “I grew up dancing and I danced in college.†So when it came time to put together her wedding, Peterson instantly wanted to incorporate a dance into the celebration.†When the couple headed down the aisle at a church in St. Paul, bride and groom boogied all the way to the altar.
Heinz and Peterson weren’t the only ones getting in on the action. Bridesmaids, groomsmen and ushers also joined in the fun, dancing along with bride and groom to the groove of Chris Brown’s “Forever.†The uninhibited dance party celebration was a total surprise to most of the guests at the ceremony. But after a few moments of shocked laughter, the whole audience was soon clapping to the beat and cheering on the madness.
After the wedding dance down the aisle video became an almost overnight YouTube mega-hit, Jill and Kevin Heinz suddenly found themselves in that strange new category of ordinary people turned Internet celebrities. They even landed an appearance on the “Today Show†on Friday to chat about their new found fame.
It’s nice for a change to see a video gone viral that has nothing to do with sex, nudity, disgusting bodily functions or heads cracking on pavement. We could also use a laugh now and then that doesn’t come at the expense of someone’s massive fail.
