The official Whitney Houston cause of death was accidental drowning, the Los Angeles County Coroner announced on Thursday. Whitney Houston drowned, according to the coroner’s report, but heart disease and cocaine use contributed to the late singer’s death. A variety of other drugs, both prescription and illegal, were found in the singer’s body at the time of her death.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office ruled Thursday that the official Whitney Houston cause of death was an accidental drowning, but drugs and heart disease were also to blame. Whitney Houston died on February 11th, just hours before she was to attend a Grammy Awards 2012 party hosted by music mogul Clive Davis. She was found submerged in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Several bottles of prescription drugs were found in the room, but not in excessive quantities, the coroner’s office stated.

Legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin is denying she was uninvited from the Whitney Houston funeral over a spat with Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston. Franklin was originally scheduled to perform at the funeral, but turned out to be a no-show. After Aretha Franklin failed to appear at Houston’s funeral, rumors began to swirl that she had somehow offended the late singer’s mother.

Aretha Franklin’s absence from the Whitney Houston funeral was a shock even to some members of the family. Houston’s cousin, Dionne Warwick, actually called Franklin to the podium at the memorial service, only to discover she was not present. “Oh, ‘Re’s not here?” Warwick asked in surprise.

Whitney Houston cause of death not listed on death certificate

The official Whitney Houston cause of death was not listed on her death certificate filed with Los Angeles County. So far, nothing conclusive has been ruled as the reason why the 48-year-old superstar died, although a combination of drugs and alcohol is suspected. An official cause of death will likely not be released until toxicology results from the Whitney Houston autopsy are completed in four to six weeks.

The Whitney Houston death certificate filed in Los Angeles County by Deputy Coroner Regina M. Augustine lists the singer as an “entertainer” in the “entertainment” industry with an Associate Degree as her highest level of education achieved. The document also lists her as “divorced” and currently residing in Alpharetta, Georgia. Her family on the certificate is listed as Bobbi Kristina Brown, her daughter with ex-husband Bobby Brown, father John Russell Houston, and mother Emily Cissy Drinkard. Although an official Whitney Houston cause of death has not yet been released by the Los Angeles Coroner’s office, sources allegedly close to the family reportedly say the singer probably died of a mix of drugs and alcohol. Whitney Houston was found dead on Saturday in the bathtub of the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Despite reports that the pop icon was found underwater, she allegedly did not die of drowning.

Whitney Houston died on Saturday, just one day before the 54th annual Grammy Awards, where Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to the fallen singer with an emotional performance of “I Will Always Love You.” Houston had been scheduled to attend and sing at a pre-Grammy Awards part hosted by music mogul Clive Davis on Saturday night.

Grammys 2012 opening overshadowed by Whitney Houston death

The 2012 Grammy Awards on Sunday opened with a somber mood as celebrities spoke on the red carpet about their grief over Whitney Houston‘s death. Normally a night for celebration and revelry, the 54th annual Grammy Awards 2012 will no doubt be most remembered for occurring the night after the death of one of music’s most legendary performers.

Before the official 2012 Grammy Awards broadcast, a large number of awards were handed out in a pre-telecast ceremony to cut down on broadcast time. Betty White won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word album for her book “If You Ask Me (And Of Course You Won’t).” Superstar singer/songwriter Adele landed her first two Grammy awards in the pre-telecast, one for Best Short Form Music Video for “Rolling in the Deep” and Best Pop Vocal Album for “21.”

Whitney Houston cause of death still unknown as autopsy results put on hold

The Whitney Houston cause of death still remains unknown a day after the superstar’s death in a Beverly Hills hotel room. The Whitney Houston autopsy results have been completed, but the report has been put under a security hold due to the ongoing investigation into her death. Toxicology tests from the singer’s death could take from six to eight weeks.

Little is known so far about the last moments before Whitney Houston died on Saturday. According to various reports, Houston was allegedly found unresponsive in the bathtub of her hotel room around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday by one of her bodyguards, who immediately began attempting CPR. A frantic call was put into Beverly Hills 911, but emergency respondents were unable to revive Houston. The singer was not taken to the hospital and her body was not removed from the scene until Sunday morning, implying that she was already beyond all hopes of resuscitation when emergency personnel arrived at her hotel room.

Whitney Houston death mourned by celebrities and fans on Twitter

The sudden death of Whitney Houston at the age of 48 on Saturday from unknown causes sent shock waves of grief through her fans and fellow celebrities. Whitney Houston died Saturday afternoon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. An official cause of death is not yet known, but rumors are already swirling that her death may have been related to her past history of drug and alcohol abuse.

Whitney Houston was declared dead at 3:55 p.m. on Saturday after being found unconscious in her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Emergency personnel responded to a 911 call placed to the Beverly Hills police department shortly after 3:30 p.m. and arrived at the hotel within just a few minutes. Sadly, they were already too late and were unable to save Houston.
