The official Whitney Houston cause of death was accidental drowning, the Los Angeles County Coroner announced on Thursday. Whitney Houston drowned, according to the coroner’s report, but heart disease and cocaine use contributed to the late singer’s death. A variety of other drugs, both prescription and illegal, were found in the singer’s body at the time of her death.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office ruled Thursday that the official Whitney Houston cause of death was an accidental drowning, but drugs and heart disease were also to blame. Whitney Houston died on February 11th, just hours before she was to attend a Grammy Awards 2012 party hosted by music mogul Clive Davis. She was found submerged in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Several bottles of prescription drugs were found in the room, but not in excessive quantities, the coroner’s office stated.
