The Bachelorette 2012 Emily Maynard: The Hometown Dates!

On The Bachelorette 2012, Emily Maynard visits her four remaining suitors — Arie Luyendyk Jr. , Chris Bukowski, Jef Holm and Sean Lowe — on their home ground this week and takes a huge step in meeting their families. While The Bachelorette 2012 spoilers have already pretty much spilled the beans about who will be going home tonight, it’s still always fascinating to see how The Bachelorette Emily Maynard comes to her decision about who to eliminate next. Read on to find out who went home and why in our The Bachelorette 2012 recap for Monday night.

This post contains The Bachelorette 2012 spoilers for episode 8! Please do not continue reading if you do not want to know what happens or who was eliminated!

This week on The Bachelorette, Emily Maynard will visit the hometowns of each of the final four guys to learn more about who they are, where they come from and how they live. She will also meet with their families for the first time and be able to take a first look at how her and her daughter, Ricki, might fit into the picture with each of her remaining suitors.

While one of the dates tonight contains one of the most romantic hometown dates moments in The Bachelorette history, there are also some very akward and uncomfortable moments on several of the hometown dates that don’t bode well for the future of a few of Emily Maynard’s final four.

Figuring out which guy she is going to send packing this week is going to be a seriously emotional decision for The Bachelorette Emily Maynard, from what we’ve seen in the preview videos. Let’s hope she makes the right choice as we start our The Bachelorette 2012 recap for this week!

Before heading off on her hometown dates with the final four guys, Emily Maynard takes a break to spend some much-needed time with her daughter Ricki in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. While The Bachelorette Emily Maynard hangs out with Ricki, she reminisces about the relationships she has built so far with each of the final four guys.

The first hometown date is with Chris Bukowski and Emily Maynard is headed off to Chicago. When she arrives, Chris takes Emily on a tour of the city and talks about how much his family is going to adore her. Chris amuses by saying that on a scale of ‘one to Polish’, his family is Polish.

Chris and Emily have dinner at a Polish restaurant so he can share the ‘taste’ of his heritage with her. Chris apologizes again about acting childish with Emily back in Prague. Emily is happy that Chris is willing to admit he was wrong and thinks he is great husband material. Chris kind of weirdly tells Emily she is like his sisters, which is not really something I would want to hear from a potential suitor.

Next Chris takes Emily to meet his family at their home. Talking to Chris’ father, John, Emily asks if Chris is ready to have the responsibility of helping to raise her daughter Ricki. He says he thinks he will be and that she has his blessing if she thinks Chris is the one.

Chris’ sister, Renee, tells Emily that if Chris is not the one, it is better that he know now rather than later on to make it easier on him. Chris, meanwhile, talks to his mom, Rose, about Emily. She thinks Emily might just be the one he is looking for. She tells him to fight for Emily if she is the one he wants.

When Emily gets back with Chris, he says it now feels easier for him to say he thinks he loves her and is in love with her. They end the night with Chris’ family giving Emily flowers and dancing. Emily thought it was the perfect ending to a perfect day.

Emily’s next date is with Jef Holm in his hometown of St. George, Utah. The Bachelorette Emily Maynard travels with Jef to meet his family at the ‘Holmstead Ranch’. The two check out the ranch and go shooting, where Emily proves to be quite the good shot and tells Jef she has taken shooting lessons. Emily likes seeing the ‘cowboy’ side of Jef and seeing the down to Earth country part of him.

Jef, who is Mormon, tells Emily that his parents are not available to meet her as they are off doing mission charity work in South Carolina. So she will only get to meet his siblings and some other relatives. Emily is nervous about meeting Jef’s family because she knows he really cares about what they think of her. She learns Jef has already broken off one serious relationship because his family did not like the woman.

Steve, Jef’s brother, takes Emily aside to talk. He wants to know about her values and is worried about Jef becoming a father very suddenly. He asks her what she thinks it takes to stay in love and she seems nervous with all the questioning, saying it is just knowing “this is it.” After talking to Steve, Emily next has to do a sit down with Jef’s sisters. Emily says she has concerns that Jef will decide after they get together that he not ready to be a husband or father. She also reveals she really feels she is falling for Jef. Jef’s siblings are kind of pushy and overly critical and there are times that it all seems a bit uncomfortable.

Later, Jef goes all kinds of romantic and reads a letter to Emily about how much he has totally fallen in love with her. Emily is truly touched and thinks it was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever done for her. Is this one of the most romantic moments on any hometown date in The Bachelorette history as it was hyped to be? Well, I admit it was a pretty beautiful moment, but it wasn’t the sky exploding or anything. Still, it was very, very sweet and lovely.

The hometown date with Arie Luyendyk Jr. in Scottsdale, Arizona is next on the agenda for The Bachelorette Emily Maynard. Naturally, the race car driver has to take Emily for a spin around the track. Emily obviously appreciates Arie’s looks, saying that he just looks “stupid hot” — and yeah, he does!

After racing around for a bit and spending some time together, they head off to meet Arie’s family. Arie is nervous because his family is Dutch and he is worried there will be too much of a culture clash. He says his father is a pretty easy, laid back person, but his mother is a more difficult nut to carck.

There are some rather awkward moments between Emily and Arie’s family, including when they just start spouting off in Dutch and leave her uncomfortably out of the conversation. Arie has to translate for her, and he is irritated they are inconsiderate by not sticking to English so Emily can understand everything.

Emily and Arie’s mom, Mieke, discuss Emily’s previous time on The Bachelor and her subsequent breakup with Brad Womack. Emily tells Mieke that she just didn’t ask the right questions and didn’t learn enough about Brad to find out who he reallly was. Emily asks Arie’s mother if she thinks Arie is ready to settle down and work out a balance between his racing career and family life. Mieke isn’t really certain how to answer that, but thinks Arie is falling for Emily.

Although there are some rough spots, Arie is happy and his family really seems to like Emily. He tells his father he might just be ready to actually propose to her if the circumstances were right.

For her final hometown date, Emily visits with Sean Lowe in Dallas, Texas. They spend some time together and discuss a previous relationship that was very serious for him. He says that relationship is why he refuses to get serious with another woman unless he really knows she is the right one for him.

Sean takes Emily home to meet his parents and he tells her that he still lives with them! He even shows off his room, which is a total disaster area. He says that he wishes his Mom had cleaned up some before Emily came to visit.

Turns out, however, that he is just screwing with Emily and that he actually does have an apartment and does not still live with his parents. There were some The Bachelorette 2012 spoilers out there that revealed early the whole bit about him living at home, but it turns out the whole thing was just a gag bit. We hope it really was, because that room did look a bit too recently lived in…

Taking her aside, Sean’s father questions Emily about her feelings for Sean. At the end of their date, Sean and Emily kiss and she heads out to leave. He decides, however, that it wasn’t enough and chases down her car to plant another one on her.

The hometown dates over and now back in Los Angeles, Emily Maynard talks over each of the visits with The Bachelorette 2012 host Chris Harrison. Emily gets very emotional over having to make a choice about who to send home from the final four guys. She says she knows how they all feel and this will be the hardest rose ceremony for her yet. She still doesn’t know what she is going to do.

At the Rose Ceremony, The Bachelorette Emily Maynard decides to give the first rose to Arie. The second rose she chooses to give to Jef, which is no surprise after that sweetly romantic letter he read to her. The two left are Sean and Chris.

The final rose for the evening goes to… Sean. Chris has been eliminated on The Bachelorette 2012.

After the Rose Ceremony, Chris and Emily talk and he wants to know what happened. Emily tells Chris that she felt they had a very strong connection on their first date, but that her relationships with the other guys have just gone much deeper than her relationship with him has. Chris is very upset, especially after telling her he was in love with her. He says he would not change anything about what he did on the show before he leaves.

Chris leaving the show tonight now confirms our earlier The Bachelorette 2012 spoilers were indeed true. Could that mean that our rumored spoilers for who will win The Bachelorette 2012 might also be true? Stay tuned to find out as Emily Maynard continues on her journey to find the perfect guy for her and her daughter!
