Who does Emily Maynard choose as the guy who won The Bachelorette 2012? Let’s find out together in our The Bachelorette 2012 finale recap!

The show tonight opens with The Bachelorette Emily Maynard deeply emotional over the decision he has to make tonight in choosing between her two final bachelors.

The Bachelorette 2012 host Chris Harrison promises tonight will be very unexpected and there will be updates after the finale on Emily, Jef and Arie… and some shocking disclosures! Before moving on, we have a brief tribute for those who lost their lives in the Aurora, Colorado shootings.

The Bachelorette Emily Maynard is happy her parents are in Curacao to support her in making the choice between her two bachelors. Emily’s mom, Suzi, is a bit worried about what is going to happen because of her daughter’s experience from being on The Bachelor and then going through all the bad stuff with her ex Brad Womack.

The first to have the honor of meeting Emily’s parents is Jef Holm, who brings flowers for Emily’s mom. Emily’s mom is liking Jef a lot, especially after he tells her how much he is ready to be a committed husband and father.

Next to meet with Jef is Emily’s brother Ernie, who says he is very protective of his sister. Jef tells Ernie he is really serious and cares a lot about Emily. Ernie also seems to be a fan of Jef. Jef next has a serious talk with Emily’s father, who wants to make sure Jef would be good to his daughter. Jef wants her dad’s approval to move forward with the relationship to the next level and her dad gives him a thumbs up. Everyone in the family really seems to like Jef a lot.

Now it is time for Arie to meet with Emily’s family and he is nervous about whether they will like him. She tells him it is okay and that they will love him. Arie is very sweetly carrying a box containing all the roses Emily has given him throughout the season.

Emily’s mother takes Arie aside for a private conversation and to make sure he is really wanting to be with Emily. Arie tells her he is totally crazy in love with Emily and he wants Emily to believe in their love. Emily’s mother says she thought it would not be hard to pick one guy over the other to like better, but it is.

Arie tells Ernie that he has never fallen so hard for anyone like he has for Emily. He says he has so much love for her and he is ready to settle down and have a life with Emily. Ernie just doesn’t know which guy he likes better for his sister. When Arie speaks to Emily’s father, he asks for permission to marry Emily and her dad gives it to him. Aries says she is the love of his life.

Emily consults with her family about her two final bachelors, Jef and Arie, but they aren’t as helpful as she might have hoped because they like both men. Emily says she is totally in love with both guys, but Emily’s dad doesn’t think that is true. He thinks you can only really be in love with one person at a time.

Emily is emotional and distressed because she doesn’t know what to do. She tells her mother she is afraid for the two bachelors to meet her daughter, Ricki, because one of them will end up going away. Emily’s mother tells her not to rush into an engagement because she’s already had two failed ones, and she doesn’t need to end up with a third. She says to wait until the relationship progresses forward to have them really spend time with Ricki.

Emily takes a break to spend some time with her lovely little daughter Ricki. In her diary video, Emily talks about how she has to pick the right man to be a father figure for Ricki. She says she really is in love with both Arie and Jef. She wonders if she should introduce Ricki to both or not.

Jef and Emily go on their final date together at the beach. Emily tells Jef it is very hard for her because she does not want to hurt either of them. Jef says the only thing he wishes he could have done that he hasn’t is to meet her daughter. Emily says she is just nervous about the idea of having the bachelors meet Ricki.

Jef tells Emily that he thinks about Ricki every day and what it would be like to be a father to her. Emily says she was unhappy she introduced Ricki to her ex Brad Womack because that relationship failed. They talk and finally Emily says that although she had initially decided against introducing either of the guys to her daughter, she has changed her mind. She feels good enough about her relationship with Jef that she is willing to let him meet her. However, Emily tells Jef that if Ricki does not like him, that would certainly have an effect on their relationship.

Jef finally gets the chance to meet little Ricki and he is all smiles. He and Ricki play together and Emily is really happy about deciding to let him meet her daughter. Emily is totally won over and thinks Jef could just be the “best dad.”

Later, Emily tells Jef that Ricki asked if Jef could come back to hang out with her again tomorrow. Isn’t that cute! Jef and Emily talk about how it was their time together in London that really jump-started their relationship. He tells her that meeting with Ricki was “perfect” and he is so happy Emily was willing to open up that part of her life to him. Jef says he knows she is a good mom and this is a huge decision for her. Jef gives Emily a book about Curacao as a gift to commemorate how far their relationship has come.a He drew little pictures of the two of them together in it.

Host Chris Harrison visits with Emily the next morning and she tells him she is feeling very distressed about the choice she has to make. She tells him that after introducing Jef to Ricki and seeing them together that she now is certain he is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Emily is weeping because she still has to have a date with Arie and she doesn’t think it is right for her to lead on Arie any more. Chris tells her to go on the date and tell Arie the truth that she wants to be with Jef instead.

Emily meets with Arie for their date and he shows her a love potion he has made for her. Ouch. On her date with Arie, Emily tells him that she really was in to him on their very first date, but that she is jus tnot sure anymore. She is crying and she tells him that she had really thought he would be the one, but that it just isn’t. Arie is extremely upset and he is shocked because he thought they were meant for each other. Emily says she just feels more true in her feelings for Jef.

Arie gets up to leave, but gives her a kiss before he goes. Emily runs after him and he thanks her for not embarrassing him tomorrow by springing this on him then. She continues to walk him out, weeping and sobbing, but he is stoic as he exits.

After he parts from Emily, Arie says in his video diary he feels stupid that he gave Emily so much of his heart and she didn’t give the same back. He can’t believe what has happened, it was so nice to fall in love, and he really misjudged Emily.

Host Chris Harrison talks to former Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and her fiancé, J.P. Rosenbaum. Ashley says she understands how hard this must be for Emily, but thinks it was the right thing for her to tell Arie how she was feeling. J.P. says he can’t imagine how Arie must feel in being rejected. Former Bachelorette DeAnna Papas says Emily did well. The Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad‘s Michael Stagliano says he can understand how Arie is feeling, but he’s sure to find someone after his time on the show. Emily’s friend, Ashley Spivy, says that she knows Emily understands how it feels to really be in love and she really needed to find that again in her life.

Emily spends some more time with her daughter Ricki in Curacao. She talks to the camera about how sweet Jef is and how great of a husband and father he would be. She is happy that she can tell Jef he is the only one who got to meet Ricki. She says she loves him so much and that she knows choosing Jef is the right decision. She says she’s never had a connection like this before in her life.

Jef is so thrilled with how things are going and he goes to Neil Lane to choose an engagement ring to propose to Emily. He talks while walking on the beach about how he wants to be the best father and husband he can be. He is totally in love with Emily and says she is everything he could ever have wanted. He gets dressed up in a swank suit to propose to Emily.

Host Chris Harrison walks Emily out to where she will wait for Jef… but she is still not sure she will say yes… Her fear is that her relationship with Jef might end like her relationship with Brad Womack did.

Emily is smiling as Jef approaches her where she is standing on stage. He tells her that she is so beautiful and amazing. She tells him that he is everything she has been looking for and he is perfect. She loves him and knows that he is the one for her. She tells him she did not have a real date with Arie yesterday and Jef is the only person who got to meet her daughter.

Jef tells Emily he feels like he is the luckiest man in the world and he is so happy she did not give up on finding love. He has found his everything and is totally in love with her. He tells her she will never feel lonely again as he gets down on one knee to propose. He asks her if she will be his wife…

…and she says… YES!

We have a montage flashback of scenes of Jef and Emily’s relationship during The Bachelorette 2012. At the end, little Ricki runs up and all of them walk off the stage together.

  1. I’m glad I didn’t watch the bachelorette at all this year…this show is getting so old.  There is so much drama.  Reading the blogs was enough.   I wonder at all if Emily can share her daughter wholeheartedly with anyone.   Once in the real world away from all the hype and cameras and exotic places…and all the makeup is off…let’s see if she is able to be real.
